Honestly, I don't know about David Carle or his competence coaching at the NHL level. I will say one thing, while inexperienced at the NHL level, it might be that he relates better to the younger players given his age and his time coaching in Denver.

I just hope we don't end up with one of the crusty old retread coaches.

if they're not careful, they'll end up with Torts if he and Philly part ways.

I don't particularly want a crusty old retread but the Hawks are in desperate need of someone behind the bench that holds all players to the same level of accountability.

Ders is and never was going to be the permanent bench coach.

Agreed, the GM always says the interim guy is in the mix when they never are.

I haven't gone in depth thinking about who or a list of names To me, I hope they avoid guys who are too "old school" and/or have a history of wearing out their welcome with the players.

If we get an experienced coach, I hope it's someone a bit more modern in their methods. I just think the NHL has changed a lot, even since the Hawks success under Q and will keep changing in terms of the coaches/players interactions and expectations. I'm not saying some of the older coaches aren't forward thinking, but I don't want a Babcock type or similar who doesn't seem to be "with the times".

That makes sense. I doubt KD is going to go the route of Babcock or Gallant. Just really won't work with this group.

But the current GM was once an interim guy himself, so it might have more of a chance of being true this time. Anders didn't get to choose his own assistants, either. Would they let him do that if he stayed on as HC?

Anders will not be the HC of the Hawks next year. Full stop.

Luke had to take King, and I think Plante was an "organizational" hire so he wasn't able to entirely pick his assistants either.

My god, Lazerus would poop himself.

I'm liking Todd Nelson the more I read about him.
I guess Sullivan is the main target if he gets let go.

It will be interesting to see who gets let go this year.

How the hell is Lindy Ruff still drawing a paycheck? In the 24 years that he's been a HC, he's lost in the final once, the conference championship three times and the rest never made it past the 2nd round. He's been out of the playoffs or fired before the end of the season in 12 of those 24 years. FFS..

You can cross off Torts as well, don’t want him anywhere near the yutes, Sullivan I would be okay with.

Montgomery would have been a nice grab, water under the bridge now. I stated that the Blues would make the playoffs earlier in the season, and with Montgomery now there, it sure looks like it.

Case in point, lines in practice today:

Richardinson - Nazar - Bedard
TT - Donato - Mikheyev
Slaggert - Foligno - Dach
Veleno - Reichel - Bertuzzi

Vlasic - Kaiser
Del Mastro - Murphy
Martinez - Levshunov

Let's just make sure that no one gets any chemistry going whatsoever....

Montgomery was never going to come to the Hawks. It was the worst kept secret in hockey.

Nelson is my pick. Articles this morning say Sullivan wants to stay with the Pens, but is that what Dubas wants?

Whoever they choose, he needs to hold the whole damn team accountable. If guys aren't playing within the defined strategy, then they need to be bumped down/sat/taken off PP/etc.

I'm all for helping Bedard develop but having him go out there and just "do his thing" is not going to add up to winning hockey. Scoring one and letting up three is no way to go through life.

Supposedly St. Louis (which Montgomery was an assistant coach before getting the Bruins head coaching job) was waiting to see if he would be let go by Boston. That is why they kept Bannister as coach waiting to see when and if Montgomery was going to be available.

Ivan Demidov will be a healthy scratch for SKA's next game, and head coach Roman Rotenberg insinuated that he will remain a scratch for the playoffs.

Demidov is SKA's leading scorer.

I hope you're right. They do need a new approach with new personnel. The fantasy is Cooper and Tampa part ways this summer, and he gets hired here. But that's just fantasy.

I was kidding about Torts. Sort of.

Add: He has said in the past that he had no interest in coming here, also.

I'll keep him one more year only if we back door to Cooper's people he has a 5 year blank check contract waiting for '26-27.

I don't think KD was interim in Rocky/Danny's mind.

Probably true. Let's hope Anders is interim in KD's mind, at least.
