Rico, where do you think that Spence will go, can KD move up from the Toronto pick and grab him?
- Angotti

Another kid that's moving up the draft boards a bit and is a mocked a tad below the Spence range is 6ft 4in 190 lb centerman Jack Nesbitt. Plays for Windsor along with Spellacy.

Caught some of that game yesterday cuz the Erie-Saginaw game was turning into a blowout. ...... Nesbitt was serving a misconduct I guess but I saw enough to see the big kid skates pretty good and his hands were reasonable and the kid wasn't shy.

He's ranked anywhere from 15 to 58 so there is enough doubt he's tough to peg pending these playoffs but he's a kid I'm trying to keep an eye on. He's a point per this yr. Check out his rankings. https://www.eliteprospect...layer/881091/jack-nesbitt

Spellacy looks to have kind of kind of plateaued of what his skills allow. Big kid can really really move, strong as a bull, loves to play the body, has solid enough hands for a bottom 6 role and is an elite kind of athlete.

Only 37 in 62 his draft +1 yr might seem disappointing but this football star came outa just 2 yrs of U-15 hockey in Cleveland and now in his 3rd yr of Major Junior so his experience is minimal.

I'm a really big fan of the kids but he needs to add some more elements and nuance to make a jump and I think he will.

Hey Paul, are you at the OSH v Brampton game? Would be awesome to see Martone live play in a few playoff games. You should have a decent feel for the kid after this series. Would love to hear your thoughts as the series moves along....... Watched the 1st and Martone is really moving nicely. He's the kind that seems built for playoff hockey and he's not disappointing so far.

The PBP guy said Brampton finished up 12-2 last 14 so they are playing well. Might be a great series.

Hope Moore goes back for another year. Think it’d be great for his development to be a primary forward as an upperclassman team leader with all their big boys going pro.
- Assman22

So far, it appears KD being unable to trade up to get Moore was a good thing.

Lardis with a nice assist after a rush up ice forcing the defenders to back up, then he crossed inside the blueline finding Brown who passed to Thomas.

Lardis was cross checked after the play. The North Bay players have been targeting him all game.

Why do the Hawks have such a hard time making quick passes? Confidence? Coaching? Guys just hold the puck and stick handle. Ruins rushes. They miss outlet passes because of it.

It’s really annoying. Especially when I’m sitting on my coach and can see where the play should go. And I’m far from a hockey expert.

Difference is going to be about perspective. On the ice it isn't always as obvious as from a higher vantage point (I guess ... only thing I can think of).

And I don't know, institutionally I think I would have been inclined to go for the man (and Korch went for the poke check) - and well - I mean I also would have been inclined to lift the goal scorer's stick (and Del went for the poke -but granted he had like little time to actually make that decision and then do it)). I'm probably a dinosaur from the 80s-90s - so for all I know both of what I would have done would have been penalties nowadays.

I don't mean to female dog and moan about it so much as just acknowledge that times are different but maybe also too, because for my money I don't feel like things were actually broken before ... is what it is.

That’s makes sense on angle but guys wait to see the open pass instead of anticipating.

Nice goal by Donato. A lot of room up top.

Brantford and Kitchener won their first games of the series. Sudbury lost first game. Thought Vanacker seemed very engaged in the part of the Brantford game that I watched.

Yeh sure thing - that's what separates the really great players from everyone else - that ability to anticipate.

Also - hoping Donato can stay - just think he's a positive influence.

Good passing from the back end so far tonight. Lots of chances have been from quick passes up ice.

Yes, and that’s going to eventually help them get the puck out of their zone more consistently, as the teams back up to prevent those long lead passes. What a difference from the Tinordi/Megna days…

I checked the game stats on my phone after the game. Every category was either tied or was a difference of one, except the score due to the EN goal. You can rip on them for losing, but this night they played a top tier team even. The difference to me is that Vegas has experience and was more efficient. But in no way did they out work the hawks. Tough to lose when a guy gets a natty hatty, but I respect them and their efforts.

Better at times. I see it from the forwards in the dZone a lot. Too much stick handling instead of just moving the puck out of the dZone.

Lev and Kaiser both several quick crisp passes out of the zone up ice or just quick passes to forwards up ice headed out of the zone. Actually hitting them in stride.

I think KK had a really nice pass off the boards that led to a goal but i think he needs to go back to the Rock, you just can't be baited to go for the puck carrier along the boards at center ice like he did on the 2nd goal against, took himself completely out of the play.

I've read the 'Hawks played last night and lost, but Donato scored a natural hat trick.

Wasn't a natural hat trick. Ryan scored the first goal of the game, then Vegas scored the next 2 ... then Ryan got the next 2 ... then Vegas got one in the third - then an empty netter.

Thanks, that was always what I thought a natural hat trick was, 3 goals in a row by the same player.

So which Spencer Knight is the real one? First 4 games .928 save percentage, last 4 games .847 save percentage?

IMO somewhere in-between, probably a touch above league average.

We won’t know until we see some more consistency from the way the team plays in front of him. Knight positions himself very well, and repositions himself after the initial shot very well. He’s obviously athletic and he he moves the puck well.
