Well two more shiny new pieces are officially signed. The Hawks going to add another top draft pick soon. The youth movement is pretty much an unstoppable freight train now. That Weber money gonna be important for reaching the floor with so many ELC at or near the NHL roster.
- breadbag

I think they add one veteran on defense and take a run at marner if he hits free agency. Plus imo a big trade at the draft.

Would love to see the Hawks bring in Seabrook to teach the young D like Yawney taught him and Keith.

Good game Erie vs. Saginaw. Saginaw is missing several players and so Erie has won the first two games.

Misiak 3G, 1A. Spence 2A.

Misa 2G, 1A.

Rinzel and Moore playing against Utah. This is great, KK and Rinzel 2nd team PP. 12 kids under 24 on the roster now? Don't expect them to all stay or make it, and we have more kids in college that most likely will sign their ELCs. The fun and frustrating part are about to begin in the rebuild.

I take it that Misiak will be in Rockford next year, along with a few more junior and college kids. At this time they really don’t have anyone in Rockford that would move the needle on the excitement side up front. At the very least they’ll have Misiak, Moore, Lardis, Greene, Thompson, etc.

I have Nesbit as a first rounder.

I cannot wait until Rinzel is out there with Arty and Arty decides to siamese twin with him as he has down overloading the other side of the pairing.

Man, and after we draft Schaefer, who is clearly faster on his skates than EVERY hawk defenseman he will be fast enough to cover up the right side when Arty decides to save they day playing his partners side.

- wiz1901

Wiz, has Nesbitt moved up or down your list throughout the yr? Big kid centerman that can skate draw attention after the late teens of rd 1, generally speaking.

You have the Hawks going Schaeffer if he's on the board? ... I haven't moved from maybe a couple months in. Even if the Hawks draft 1st I posted a couple months in, and still think, the Hawks will go Misa.

Much like taking Levshunov last yr over a lotta qualified Dmen they did the right thing taking a big, rangy, right shot kid with a high ceiling over a damn fine wing in Demidov and all those other Dmen.

I thought the Hawks needing centerman, top 6ers with size would convince themselves if there is any daylight between Schaefer and Misa it's small and they go with a bigger need in top 6 centerman.

And I'm ok with that just like taking Artie last yr. ...... I was blown away by Schaeffer last yr, much of the yr he was 16. Kid just ran the shift, period. Along with his elite skating the eyeball goes straight to the kid and doesn't leave. But he had 17 in 54ish. This yr before injury a bigger stronger Schaeffer went down 21 games in. He had just 17 points....... He hasn't really scored in the OHL.

Do I think it's a problem? Empathetically no. He has the brains, size, skating that check a lotta boxes Maker does and just might develop similarly but Misa convinced me he'll be a legit top 6 NHL centerman with the size and pace to play with any linemates.

Along with loads of legit NHL Dmen prospects, and Artie showing signs of being elite, and the possible concern of asset/cap allocation of having 2 Dmen that will have to be paid as #1's if you draft Schaeffer, I thought for awhile now they go Misa.

BUT, as long as they end up top 4, and that seemed to be after McQueen went down with his back for the 2nd yr in a row, they'll do just fine. Big fan of both Hagens and Martone but Misa is the prize for the Hawks.

So which Spencer Knight is the real one? First 4 games .928 save percentage, last 4 games .847 save percentage?

IMO somewhere in-between, probably a touch above league average.

- LAHawk

Been waiting for posts/articles like this especially with Commesso on a long roll down on the farm........ Curious LA, after seeing Knight enough now to have some kind of opinion what is yours on the kid?

Goalies are always going thru something between the ears, always, and Knight is going thru something he never has being just 23. He will turn 24 in April...... Knight came up with Fairfield and Avon Farms playing prep/minor hockey, off to The Program then to Boston College then the Panthers organIzation.

All blue blood top of class programs since he was 13-14. Now he's on a bad Hawk team 10 games short of 2 seasons from a total rebuild as the #1 and no safety net of Bobrovsky. ...... IMO go by the eye test, his resume not his numbers early as a Hawk. BUT,

Now as we see aspects of his game that keep him from being a consistent top 1/3 NHL goalie....... He's losing positioning getting too deep in his net. Why is he getting beat glove side high on shots he sees from distance? A concentration issue? A technical issue? A weight adjustment issue?

Just a couple issues that need tweaked/fixed to be a consistent NHL goalie. But to my eye there is no question the kid has one helluva foundation and rarely fails to pass the eye test as he checks off most every box each time you watch the kid and I'm talking about in jrs with The Program. He's been building slowly and surely since taking the slow NCAA path. Kid gets it......

Best goalie prospect I've seen outa the USHL until Hrabal came along. Left The Program, that churns out NHL goalies, with the highest save percentage until a kid named Commesso took that honor of best save percentage earned at The Program!!

Huge fan of goalies outa The Program. Huge fan of goalies going the NCAA route then plying their trade and developing in the AHL and the Hawks have two of them!!!! Big fan of Commesso and always have been cuz of his quiet technical style backed up by athleticism with ......... Still can't believe Knight is a Hawk but we all see he's not a finished product and has been traded in season to the worst team he's ever been on, is the #1 goalie on his NHL team for the first time and he's got Soderblom and soon enough Commesso to fight off.

What's the eye test showing you, LA?

All 12 should play in Rockford next season. Why does the NHL allow players not old enough for college to be drafted? It boggles my mind. Not even the NBA allows such young drafting. Same for MLB.

Very technically sound. Last 4 games has given up some Mrazek type goals (like the long shot unscreened off the inside of his blocker) which leads me to believe his concentration is not all there.

It is a big jump from having all the physical ability in the world, and having the right mindset between the ears to be a #1 goalie in the NHL. Remember Al Montoya?.

I believe Knight is an NHL goalie, and will have a good career. To be seen if he will become elite.

I am gonna guess #55 is benched.

Sexual assault allegation
Interesting that the 1984-85 Windsor team included Paul Maurice, Peter DeBoer, KEITH Gretzky and Adam Graves…

Todd Gill was on the 1983-1984 team.

Enjoy, Paul. No small thing to see a Major Junior playoff game live and of course the league gives you NHL to be players all over the ice...... Love to read your thoughts on Martone after the game. IIRC Brampton came in on a 12-2 kind of run, so they're playing good hockey.

This is it. Those are the Dmen, not abstract draft picks, we envisioned playing defense in Conference Finals, Cup Finals. they're up and they're in the deep end playing NHL hockey. ....... Guess some will quibble with Kaiser but I think he can be a depth Dman for a winning club.

I'd guess most have some kinda disappointment about Ollie Moore cuz he was under a pt per in his 2 seasons at the U of MN and was a depth player on the U-20 WJC squad but his path and development are sound.

I see the kid as a true 2 way player who doesn't cheat the game, a really high motor, has played with Elite players and coaching at The Program then U of MN and has the disruptive speed that makes him pretty much the fastest player 95% of the time he's on the ice. His skill in his hands will determine if he's a top 6, middle 6 or bottom 6 NHLer cuz he checks most every other box.

He's a blue blood and cuz of his speed, hunger and motor his floor is as a 3rd line NHLer........ Kid will get a taste of the NHL then down to RKF to play in the AHL playoffs. Same with Rinzel and, maybe Artie too.

Big day for the organIzation.

Serevelli on the Hawks pregame;

Rinzel will not play a game in the AHL

Boisvert may transfer to an eastern team when the portal opens tonight

Thompson not signing, going back, and may become a FA after next year.

I guess its to be expected with so many draft picks that someone may not sign sighting no path to get to NHL

If I'm Thompson, I'm seeing a very short route to NHL minutes in Chicago.
