Can't watch the game, maybe I get home by 3rd period

Box score - Bedard - 0 SOG ... Ugh

- captainserious

Teams are doing everything they can to take away his forehand space, and they are doing it well

These first few shifts for Allan in the game here, he is starting look a lot more confident and comfortable than we've seen.

Great job by Reichel and the old goats.

And how did he score, give and go, he excels at that right now, sure the rest of the game he needs to get better. On Maroons goal where was Reichel parked? in front of the net, not drifting, not skating by, was ready for a pass or rebound.

All this talk about offense 2-1 if Martinez doesn't block that shot

Agreed, it puts him in a position to succeed.

There’s all kinds of criticism of Hall but you can see where he just doesn’t have the jump in his first strides. He may not be able to regain his form but he still needs time to get his knee into condition. It’s difficult for a young player to come back from his injury, it’s going to take him longer. I’m curious to see how he is in January or February.

Man the “lifting strength” came back in about 8 months for me. Took 2 years to really feel 100% normal athletically and like all my explosiveness was back. Did mine at 36 but it was ACL LCL meniscus.

The power of that kid's shot. Ripped off the post so heavy it damn near bounced off the goalie and back in. ......... His 8 turnovers sucked though. .... Do you think Torts would be good for Bedard's game? I think it might!!

Kid wants to do the right thing but was never taught to minimize/understand risk and Torts is a master of that. Tough to learn at the NHL level.

I think what Bedard needs to do is be harder on the puck and on the opponent. He just poked the puck loose from one Flyer to another Flyer and he stopped his pursuit even though the puck carrier was a few feet away. He’s not scoring so contribute in other ways. It’s possible Torts could get him to be harder on the puck when the Hawks don’t have possession but Richardson could also point that out. My problem with Torts is while he’s a good teacher and I think he’s fair he seems to get too extreme too. I mean Michkov has already had a seat in the press box. I don’t think being overly heavy handed benefits anyone even Torts himself who less of a shelf life than most coaches.

Nice push back on the next two shifts after the Hawks gave up a goal.

Well that didn't last.

Learning how to win games is so difficult when you are accustomed to losing games. An innocent play by Murphy who has hands of stone makes a horrible not under any pressure whatsoever simple pass for icing, lose the faceoff in our own zone, scramble drill in, wide open forward in from of Mrazek completely changes the momentum of the game.

One thing about Bedard that I can’t figure out. Whenever he’s on a rush he’s always alone. He’s got to figure out how to delay to allow his linemates to catch up. Denis Savard used to go on a rush ahead of everyone but cross the blue line and curl catching Secord or Larmer with a pass as they crossed the blueline with speed. Bedard is quick but he’s not super fast like Savard. Maybe he needs a linemate who’s really fast, like Nazar?

Why don't the experienced dmen use the space of ice in their own zone in front of them to skate the puck up?

He was flying and had a team high 5 SOG. I think Bedard needs to just get one to get it going again.

Mrazek and the 4th line deserved the win. The rest of the team - not so much.

This is one of the softest, if not the softest, Blackhawks teams I’ve seen and that’s saying a lot.

This was the game that does it for me. I’m back on the tank-train (again). I expected the Hawks wouldn’t be in this position this season, but here we are.

I think LR is killing him with constantly changing his linemates. Just like he did with Reichel last year.

Hawks needed the top 6 to do something and chip in, we aren't gonna win games getting just over 20 shots and scoring 2 goals. Top goal scorers for the Hawks right now are Donato, Foligno, Smith and the 4th line was the only one looking really dangerous in this game. Need to get the top end going a bit more and also maybe draw some penalties too.

Bedard hasn't played long enough in the league to earn them yet.

Bedard isn’t involved in the thick of things to draw penalties. He’s going to have to get his nose over the puck, go to the net, backcheck and forecheck harder.

I know it's a team game, but one important factor to winning in my opinion is creating the least amount of unforced errors.

I watched Murphy make these unforced errors for so many years, which is great for a rebuild. I just don't know what they are going to do with Seth Jones when they are ready to take that next step. I believe he suffers from the same disease.
