Agree. The Hawks had 3OA, 3OA and 1OA in 4 years. 2 turned out likely to be in the Hall of Fame. One was traded to Minnesota for Leddy and Johnsson and was out of the league in 4 or so years. Further, proves non-exact science.
I hope our 2OA this year doesn't end up like Barker. Both characterized as the cool, calm persona. - Popsghostly
I corrected this.
Another top 3 would be exciting. |

Korch,Bedard,Lev, Misa/Martone/Hagens/Schaefer
The odds on all 4 hitting are awfully low.
Wiz has the Hawks taking Schaefer with #2 at lines
If that happens, who is getting traded? Korch? Lev? Could you even get anything in return for them other than late round picks the way Columbus got 26th overall for Jiricek+Hunt and lower rd picks? - captainserious
No I have hiem in teh second overalll spot as the teams selecting scond overall is far from being decided.
I bumped him to #2 slot and he may goi #1 even, but that doesn't negate the solid top 12 on the board.
It is just me trying to illustrate that more than one team realized he is a real prospect on the defense.

Korpisalo went last night in Boston's 3-2 OT win over DET. Should see Swayman and his .893 SPG and 7-9-2 in 18 games. |

He struggled out of the gate due to missing camp, has allowed 7 goals in last 4 games. Obviously he’s turning things around. Both of these teams struggle to score goals, especially 5 vs 5. Hawks need to score on the power play. |

I may agree with you at some point but not now.
He and the org are patient, you Chunk and LA Hawk not so much. - BetweenTheDots
Dots, I'm in your camp. KD and Crew has my trust until he/they prove they don't deserve my faith. Period......... I'd add I realize any plan runs into some bumps and forks in the road that require some tweaks as events dictate but the process goes on.
Tough to put timelines on known unknowns.

Barker wasn't a good skater and had some ankle injuries I think? Kind of a bad combo.
Other than Toews, Kane and Bedard the Hawks have not done well with top 10 picks the last 25 years. (Seabrook was 12ish I believe)
Levshunov by all accounts is a tremendous athlete and skater so for him it's really what's between the ears. |

Thank you, Lou. A buddy texted wanting to bet the over under. Told him Swayman should go but held out and has put up an .893 and BOS fired their coach 2 weeks ago. Did not know he's been that good the last 4.
The O/U is low at 5........... Love watching Swayman. IMO he's been a top 5 goalie the last 3ish yrs, if not more.

Tavares comes off the books, also, so the Leafs should have room to pay Marner, assuming he wants to stay.
The Avs aren't a lock to make the playoffs, so it would be most interesting to see what another team would pay to rent Rantanen if it comes to that. He has a 9 team no trade list, it should be noted. Otherwise, they will have some tough decisions to make this summer if they want to keep Rantanen, especially if Landeskog is cleared to play. |

Columbus had a situation that wasn't great for the player and org. Plus there were questions if the player will be able to keep up in the NHL skating wise which is a massive red flag. If all of those guys are in the NHL and relatively productive I think it makes a hockey trade a lot easier. I think Waddell got good return based on the situation.
Chychrun went for a first and two seconds before he didn't so that should be a decent meter.

Development isn’t linear and there are all kinds of factors for a prospect’s stay in the AHL. Working on a certain aspect of their game, to introduce him to playing against men or waiting for the prospect to get stronger or bigger.
I know you don’t agree with players being developed in the AHL but many if not most players require time in the AHL for the said reasons.
When Nazar is ready, he’ll be promoted, simple as that. You don’t know what KD is looking for in Nazar any more than anyone else here. KD wants these prospects in the NHL faster than we do. Luckily for us he’s not panicking like we are. - paulr
I'm saying top line players typically aren't there or they are not there for long. |

1 and 2 OA have a pretty good history of being productive NHL players to one degree or another.

Korch's odds are much lower than Bedard Levshunov or whoever they take with a top 3 pick this year.
It's pretty variable.

The Avs will be a lock if they can get their goalie situation sorted out. Wedgewood was an immediate shot in the arm.
Landeskog has had a few set backs. Most people here (Denver) don't think he'll play again and also don't think they'll win a cup without him. Kinda like how a bunch of Sox fans said they couldn't win without Rowand. |

Looking forward to seeing Vanacker and Spellacy in Rockford next season. Other 3 should stay in college. Hoping they can sign Greene and Rinzel after the season and send them to Rockford as well along with Lardis. DJ is probably ready for AHL but not sure yet if he'll stay in college or flip pro. - Assman22
No Ass, both Vanaker and Spellacy were drafted last yr out of Major Junior (OHL-WHL-QMJHL) and won't be eligible for the AHL until they play this and next yr in jrs. A good rule of thumb is a kid drafted out of MJ has to play the next 2 yrs in jrs until they're eligible for the AHL unless they make the NHL roster.
So, any kid in the pipeline playing jrs can play at RKF after this yr besides the kids drafted last yr. They have to play one more yr to complete their 2 yrs in jrs after being drafted.
And yea, I think Rinzel may be ready after to turn pro after this yr.

When you go back to those years look at the late 1st early 2nd round talent, if our scouts have a clue and you also need some luck there are some real gems to build a dynasty.

He got it at 5. I told him Hawks can't score, BOS can't score, Swayman has it in him to be a top 5 goalie every yr. All signs point to the under, so I told him gun to my head, bet the over.
Dude has been hot. Hit two 7 team parlays the last 10 days. ,,,, The nut hit 6 out of 7 a couple days ago and had 100 bucks on it!! Think it would have paid 25k IIRC!!
He's a Union Dog. Next yr he will have punched the same time clock for 40 years!!! Dude is a hero IMO, especially if he had hit that 7 teamer with 100 bucks on it.

This guy is saying you can see this team beginning to play as one.
I wonder if they want Nazar to stop coming off the wall and try to beat 2 defenders with the puck |
