center depth does have a negative effect on scoring. never said nor implied it doesn't.

what it doesn't affect is the point blank chances Farabee has flubbed.

The flubbed chances are going to happen. McDavid and Crosby I’ve watched miss sure things.
The thing is Crosby and McDavid and other star players also make a lot of plays that guys like Farabee can’t make.
Farabee and guys like Tipoet are good players but aren’t going to put you over the top.
The Flyers need two bonafide 1st and 2nd line centers and a stud dman and a workhorse 2-3 dman.
The guys they have outside of Michkov now are all supporting cast players.
Sanheim maybe is the 2 guy they need or the 3 workhorse.
Can Luchenko be a solid second line center? To be determined.

He set career highs in goals, assists, and points last season, and people talk like he took a step back.

So far this season he has started slow, I think some of that is attributable to how weak we are at the center position and all the line juggling Torts makes. One can argue that Konecny, Michkov, and Sanheim are the only players on the team who haven't started slow.

We can all agree he needs to step it up. As does almost every other player on the team.

I think Farabee this season has probably had the most high danger chances on the team. If not the most he has got to be up near the top. He IQ is helping him get those chances. His lack of skill is not allowing him to finish those chances. Yes last year he scored 22 goals which is good, second time in his career he has done this. But when you go through those goals, they happened because of his IQ, not because of his skill. In other words, a lot of lucky bounces and deflections were involved. I believe this is why Farabee goes through long stretches without scoring. I believe the Flyers can do better.

How do you suggest they accomplish that task?

Top centers in this league were drafted in the top 10, just look at the leaders this year. If the Flyers are unwilling to tank enough to do that, with their 6 picks in the first two rounds, the Flyers' have to do their homework and get lucky with a center pick. Other options is to trade for a player like Tippet and hope that player was a late bloomer, hockey trade which will be very difficult, or free agent. It is projected that at least 5 centers will be picked in the top 10 of this draft. I think the Flyers need to finish low to get one of those picks. We certainly know the Flyers will not be able to trade their way into the top 10.

Depends on the injuries. The good news is Grans is clearly high on the depth chart in terms of call-ups so he is getting closer.

That is not true at all. Took 3 injuries to get him recalled. So to me he is at the bottom of the depth chart.

Is it just me or do things seem normal & respectful around here. I’m actually reading everyone’s posts and enjoying the conversation.

I too am here, respectfully (although everyone is always welcome to question my normality).
