Currently, Sanheim is the Flyers No.1 defenseman but not a true No.1 defenseman in the league. - Pixote Andolini

I would guess less than we hope. At this point I’d be happy with another disgruntled or underachieving 1st round pick of a similar age who may need a change in scenery. - mikeyo27
The Flyers may be forced into trading Frost because the coach simply doesn't want to play him and repeatedly holds him to a different standard in the entire time the coach has been here. However I don't think the time is now to trade him. They need to play him and do whatever they can to get him going and playing better.

Daniel Jones asked to be cut and the Giants obliged. That GM has to be walking out the door with him. |

This is what I am hoping. Who that is I have no idea. I don't think a draft pick would be in play because you aren't getting a 1st for him.
I also feel like sitting him is counterproductive. Torts can't sit him for the reasons he lists and then not sit Poehling, Laughton or even Cates. None of them are producing. They are struggling for offense and regardless of how Frost has been playing he is the best option at center for producing offense. Torts also can't say others are playing better so he needs to wait his turn. Nobody ahead of him has earned their spot at his expense.

We'll see if Laughts or Poehls experience any consequences for their dogpoop turnovers.
Especially Laughts, who not only committed the cardinal sin of coughing the puck up on zone exit (on the first (frank)ing shift of the game) but also chased the puck around the DZ like an idiot up until the goal was scored. |

This goes back to the theory that Torts treats his players differently due to his preconceived standards. In his mind I am sure Laughton has earned a much longer rope that Frost ever has, and I can understand that. I'm not sure how Poehling got such a long leash other than he skates fast. He produces next to nothing offensively.

Frost is on the second PP unit with Farabee, Tippett, Richard and Zamula. More evidence he's coming back in.

Poehling and Laughton rotating on the 4th line. No TK. |

If anything, all 5 centers should be sitting every 5th game until someone starts producing and gets to stay in the lineup on merit.

4. Player-team that seem a match: Morgan Frost and Chicago. Frost didn’t play Wednesday against Carolina, the fourth game of the last five he’s watched from the press box. He’s not a complainer, prefers to keep any displeasure behind closed doors, but players want to play. Obviously, any dance needs partners who deal, but the Blackhawks, in dire need of centres, are one team that makes sense for him. |

Maybe Torts should sit the players that are playing well to punish the ones who aren't?

On top of everything in your posts that you said to emphasize it. Scratching Frost is not going to be some magic elixir to get him playing better. For a coach that many say is good for developing players, which is obviously false. He has zero feel for the game and his methods continue to be archaic. A coach with a feel for the game, who has a genuine interest in improving the player, which Tortorella doesn't. He would look at the opponents on the schedule, see a stretch of games recently against SJ, Ottawa and Buffalo and see three teams that give up scoring chances and are either mediocre or poor defensively and see an opportunity. Where the players may be able to come back and get some chances and opportunities that might get him going. Frost remains the most talented playmaking center on the team. Many are probably not aware of this, but at 5 on 5, Michkov is scoring at a lower rate offensively than every forward with the exception of Cates and Frost. So what do you have to lose by putting Frost in to play with Michkov? Other than games that don't mean a whole lot. Tortorella needs to stop being so concerned with defense and more concerned with player development. This is another example of why he continues to be the wrong coach for this team.

He wasnt improving by playing either. At the end of the day ot doesn't matter. He is what he is at this point. He had a 15 game leash before getting scratched.

Since farabee seems to be an odd man out here would you trade him to Buffalo for Byram?
I have no idea why torts and DB would trade the only LW that we have but this is boneheaded torts that were talking about |

Torts continuing to not play frost keeps reducing his trade value. Something torts is known for, apparently |

I disagree that he is what he is at this point. A player is certainly not going to get better by not playing. He at least has a chance to get better by playing. Tortorella's coaching has been horrendous this season. With the constant line changing and resorting back to a more conservative style of play. All in a ridiculous over focus on trying to win games and losing sight of the big picture. It won't happen but they have to get Tortorella out of there.

Does anybody think if we brought in a more offensive minded coach that we could see different results from these players?
Why is there so much regression across the board here so far this season?
I'd love to hear your reasonings |

Yes, I do. In terms of offensive play, this coaching staff is horrendous. The issue is that Tortorella would never let go of his "non-negotiables" and allow more leeway with his team offensively. The overall issue though continues to be talent and they need better center play. |

He got consistent playing time and was horrible, not that Poehling or Laughton has been great, but frost has dropped the ball countless times now |

I don’t think it would be that much of a difference. Main reason is the team would be bad and it would probably result in getting crushed in the score board. Also, the players that are good, still produce. TK, Michkov, Sanheim have come a long way. Tippet was strong last year as well. These guys just aren’t any good is the bottom line. Foerester is extremely young and it’s not a straight line |
