The lack of effort by the forwards on both goals against was staggering, Panarin labored his way back up the ice and his man, Podkozlin, was the trailer and scored. On the shorthand tally, where the heck was the rest of the team. Nurse came up the ice unimpeded and scored.

Thats how Panarin plays, why are you surprised?? How many times was that brought up during the playoffs??

They need to break up the core. This is why I said all offseason trade Kreider while his value is high

Kreider is a one trick pony these days. He doesn’t make anyone better 5 on 5 (hence the lack of assists). For everyone who said he should’ve been captain, he’s not leading by example out there either.

Trocheck has reverted back to what we was before last season. I remember why I hated him now. He was so good last season, completely different player.

2024 all star Vinny Trocheck. Don’t even notice him anymore.

Team is so soft they can’t even draw penalties.

Berard, Belzile or Sykora should get a look.

I actually wonder if Shesty isn’t planning to resign until he sees what Drury is planning. I mean I feel like they weren’t far off in dollars and then we’ve heard crickets.

I don’t think this is Lavi’s fault. He’s been a solid coach. Looking at Trochek and some of the passengers… I agree that there’s something going on in the room.

I'm not sure how I feel about Lavi these days. The honeymoon phase was so great and so long that it was easy to get excited. But, I remember seeing it said that every team he has coached never matched the success of his 1st season behind their bench.
If we couldn't get it done and now won't make it back to the same level, where are we going under him?

This core is on like its 4th coach now. The players need to figure it out. A new coach won’t change anything imo

Just from the outside... watched the game last night and that goal from McJesus where he walks right across the slot with Rangers standing there as if waiting for his autograph... and just easily scores... was pretty damning of the effort ... maybe it was hey we just want to get home game is already out of hand or whatever...

But I'm curious if you guys think the team shouldn't just be built around Laf / Shesty - the 3rd line and Miller, Fox and 55 and the kids and everyone else fair game to be moved.

This is essentially the same team that won the President's trophy last year, and that was the worse outcome for this group.

Fact is. they overachieved, won games they had no business winning. It's a flawed group with no leadership in the room or on the ice. I get the f

Fact is. they overachieved, won games they had no business winning. It's a flawed group with no leadership in the room or on the ice. I get the feeling the thinking is let's just make the playoffs and then we will turn it on. Doesn't work that way, they're lazy, don't forcheck, lose their checks in D zone, and are atrocious in center where most opponents fly up the ice.

Drury has to many NMC to significantly change the core half of which either don't care or worse have lost the desire to play (see Mika Zibanejad). There core is the problem, the only good news is the improvement of the younger players. But the need help and leadership from the core. I don't see it happening

There is no coach who would make a appreciable difference.

Players without that dog in em that can be moved:

No trade restrictions:
Lindgren
Miller

No trade clause:
Trouba
Kreider (he’s adding nothing 5v5 and has no fire left)
Smith (he’s fine but I couldn’t care less if they needed space for someone else)

Full NMC:
Mika (never going to happen)

Not ready to add Trocheck here as his upside is far higher than his cap hit

Yea they need to beat the canes next week.

I never call anyone an untouchable but players to build around:

Laf Schneider fox Igor jones Edstrom cuylle. Vets to keep Tro and panarin. Perrault only prospect I wouldn’t move. The rest can all go in a retool
