I don’t miss Sandin or Lily either, but Timmins is a defensive liability (and the penalties) 🙄. He will come back to reality soon.
Benoit Hakanpaa 3rd pair please - mr.sir
Benoit is just as much of a liability, if not more, because he needs a puck mover to help him get it out.
They're all bottom pairing guys who do different things. Lilybust was always this "but he was a 1st rounder!" failed experiment in the top 4 that the fancy stats kids adored, but always looked out-matched physically out there. At least Timmins is long.

I agree with everything you said except the bolded.
I think if Timmins is playing in your top 4, your defense isn't good enough.
He's better suited to be the puck mover on the third pair on a good team imho. - Scabeh
I agree. He may end up there at some point, if he took leaps and bounds this/next season (assuming he's still here), or maybe if he was on a lesser team and got a ton of ice-time, but yeah, I think he's much more suited to 3rd pairing on the Leafs if we're talking about contender Leafs, not pretender Leafs.

5 mil would be fine imo.
keep JT until he retires. hes still providing value. and 5 mil will be not a lot very soon - senstroll
JT is of the generation that have taken advantage of modern sports science/nutrition/health, so an aging JT who's doesn't have a lot of prior injuries, is probably going to decline at a slow/predictable rate.
Matthews is a guy who concerns me long-term. I don't know if he'll top Ovi's goal scoring numbers if he can't stay healthy and is already seeing the return of some nagging injuries.

On any given night, my vote for which Dman should sit it's always Timmons. Like Robertson, I'm just off watching them. To me I'd be happier with them just not being on this roster and not what the return in a trade would be.
