Guy Boucher took a job in Russia. Looks like he's safe - mr.peanut

the only reason I'd want him fired right now is because I'm already tired of the "he should be fired" talk, might as well get it over with now, bring on Michel Therrien again. - Pat1993
As I said from almost day 1... he needed a real veteran coach to mentor him / help him develop as a head coach.
Still boggles my mind we are here 3 years later and everyone pretty much agrees... except HuGo and MSL, apparently.

3, almost 3 - fidopro
What moves did the GM do to help his coach? Newhook? Dach? Laine? Barron? Not a lot of sucess so far on that front either, just saying
Sure you can fire the coach, but what if the team keeps sucking after that? Who do you blame then? |

well, maybe they've changed their minds on this, but hiring people in the middle of the regular season might not always be that easy...

I think he's safe for now.
if they finish the season 2nd to last... HuGo will have to make a tough decision.
you cannot set the bar at: we want to be in the mix, and finish 31st. someone will have to pay. |

I think there's a big part of people saying they're patient and willing to go through learning pains, while they actually aren't. |

Shoulda been done after year 1, especially when Richardson left. And last summer....
Not really a new observation.

yeah, I disagree on that part, things didn't go as planned, doesn't mean someone absolutely needs to get fired, this is a rebuild. but it's also in MTL, where people always want results right (frank)ing now.

can't disagree with that, I've been among those who were suggesting they should bring in some experience from day 1.

it's easy to be patient when you see improvement.
when you don't... people tend to be less patient yes.
let see how they finish the season, plenty of hockey to be played. |

Maybe, but maybe fans expected the team to be better at this point and not see a regress. Molson and co set the bar as to be in the mix and I think I have to agree with Fido here, Saint-Louis may have to pay the price. But others will feel the pressure if things dont get better after that |

I did not think they would be much better than they currently are, at least points wise.
I am just tired of the same mistakes over and over.
(frank)ing depressing.
At least CC will score about 40 goals.... |

that's what we do best.
and btw, it may not be the coach who will pay. could be the players.
but it's always easier to fire 1 guy. |

Weird how individual criticism is always brushed off and saddled with an excuse, like "the team sucks, what do you expect?" Well isn't the bad team composed of all those people who can't be blamed?
Cause at some point you have to look somewhere to initiate improvement, because the NHL is not a development league |

I agree he may pay the price at some point, but I always think its easier to fire the coach then to trade the whole team. Would say the same about Boston or Toronto
show me a good team and I will show you a good coach. |

I find that's an empty blanket statement, a lot of guys continue developing their skills at the NHL level, it's just that it's usually elite talent players that are able to do it, like Hutson for example. |
