I guess that little birdie that told me about the players making the Four Nations tournament was correct. Risto, Tk and Sanheim all made their respective teams as was reported here on Monday. Imagine that, the terrible 3 pair defender Risto gettin some lovin at the world class level. - Phillywhiteout
LOL. Name the 6 Finnish defensemen in the NHL who should have been named ahead of him.

Im so impressed with Sanheim, i know some ppl on here don't think he is a true number 1 defenseman, but he been playing above we all thought capable 2 years ago.
Much deserving getting the nod for team canada - SlNlSTER
Tk and sanheim deserved the nod. What I can’t get is for team canada to take montembealt over Thompson as the 3rd goalie. He’s been terrible most of the year for the habs |

Details, details.
Only 7 of them are playing full time or close to it. - MJL
Risto is only playing the best hockey of his career and has clearly demonstrated he is one of the Flyers best defenseman and a legitimate top 4 defenseman on *any* team. Playoffs teams will covet Risto come this deadline, and when you see the return the Flyers get for him if they trade him, you will all finally have to accept that Risto is a really, really good player. Anyone watching the Flyers right now and still stating Risto is a marginal defenseman, they are clinging to the railing of a sinking ship heading for Davy Jones' locker. |

I mean, Binnington runs hot and cold, and has that ever present temper that can get the best of him.

a cost controlled RHD at a modest 5 million per for 2 more years should get at least a 1st, 2nf, and solid prospect, right? just entering his prime. a late bloomer if you will.
I do like your little if the trade him throw in there. |

He came to camp last year a different guy… I never thought in a million years he would change certain parts of his game… but he did. This year he’s been even better. To make that team is quite an accomplishment. Same for TK. |

Your post is full of rhetoric and hyperbole and you haven't offered a single fact to support your claims. Is the ship sinking similar to when you posted that there is no such thing in hockey as a low zone collapse defensive system? Is this similar to when you proclaimed the Flyers were on the path to the cup under Fletcher? Similar to when you stated that Tortorella is the hands down winner of the Jack Adams? All of that is representative of your proclamations.

Politics. Going to have a Canadian team without one Montreal player? He likely won't play much. Many don't realize that the rosters are not just the best players. It's who wants to play also. |

being the great talent evaluators, the flyers are they wanted to give him away. their own incompetence saved by another player refusing to play for the flyers. |

Such a short amount of games they had better hope one of these guys is on. Hill shut out the Oilers the other night…and has a cup. Hopefully him or Binnington are solid…I thought Binnington was really good against the Flyers the other night. |

That’s a trade that might of gotten that top 5 pick for them….in the sense they would have really sucked…. |

He has put in the work and is getting rewarded. I am happy for him. I honestly did not think he would get the nod for Team Canada.
Good work Travis Sanheim.

Risto wouldn't have made any of the other rosters. He only made the Finnish team because there are so few to choose from. His is not and never was a "really, really good player". He is a serviceable defenseman who can only play one way or the other. All offense with no defense, or all defense with no offense. There is no in between.

still think they would have ended up on the outside of top 5. my point was they clearly didnt have much faith in Sanheim to want to move him for krug and a pick.
would have had no issue moving him though that package was garbage and no way you can tell me he didn't have better value than that at the time. |
