So is it the Owners telling Lou to make the deals. Lou just making the deals or Ownership removing Lou and letting the new GM make the deals.
I think the ownership is going to give Lou at least until the end of the season. Right or wrong. That is my feeling.
Unless the Islanders are legitimately out of it early. I think you see Lou make a few more buys than sells. Right or Wrong. That is my feeling as ownership has not shown anything else. Heck when was the last time anyone spotted Ledecky in the stands? That alone speaks volumes.
I think it is going to be a painful 3-1/2 months of inconsistency. - Nfdbulldawg

It's all about the big picture. Making the playoffs and losing in the 1st round again does nothing for the Islanders. Getting assets for Nelson and Palms and maybe even Lee and getting a better draft pick for missing the playoffs is much better for the future. |

Jimmy, I do not disagree, however, some might say that they with all that has gone wrong. This team is 3 games out of a wild card spot. - Nfdbulldawg
That isn't the best way to look at it. To get into the playoffs teams need 90+ points. That means the Isles will need to win about 30 games over the next 46 games. I don't see it happening.

Worse thing is they continue to limp along and hang around a playoff spot at the deadline. If Lou thinks he needs to make the playoffs to keep his job, he will not do the right thing. - ses111
At this stage of his life, do you believe Lou is looking to save his job. If there is one thing we have learned with Lou. He is set in his ways and is not worried about what anyone thinks. I am hoping Ownership has learned a few things along the way and can recognize that a change needs to be made at GM. |

I do think Lou is looking to save his job. He shows no indication he wants out. Ownership better do what is right long term. Makes no sense how ownership has been handling this team the last few years. |

The problem is they normally do not suck enough to be completely out of it. The last time was the year after the 2nd ECF and Covid. - ses111
This team does not have 3 wins to 1 loss ratio in them. Which would equate to 35 wins and 11 losses. in the 46 games remaining. It would give them a 105 pts. At this rate if they break 85 points it will be miracle.
I look to move Pelech and Pullock to a Playoff contender. Look to get younger on the back end. George has shown promise. Dober (questionable) not sure he has earned an 8-year deal.
I look to move Nelly, Palms, Lee, JGP (Maybe). You have Barzy, Duke, Horvie, Syp.
I would even move Varly for a prospect or draft pick.

I would move all the players you mentioned. Probably not Dobson unless it was a huge return. You would still have Barzy, Duke, Horvie, Syp to build around for the forward group.

Yeah we’ve all seen teams over the years suddenly go on a tear and go far or even win the cup. I’ll take that bet every, single, time, it isn’t happening with this group. |

I don’t think Lou starts trading assets hoping for some kind of correction this time around. If he wanted to or I should say if he were allowed to, I think anyone would have a legit reason to start bashing ownership at that point. |

Dober really needs to prove that he is legit and more consistent before getting an 8 yr deal. |

Why does it take the first 10 minutes or the whole 1st period for this team to realized the game started |

There are some next-level idiots on Twitter/X who are hanging the seasons issues in Sorokin. One guy, masquerading as a TV psychiatrist, routinely blames him for every goal because from his sofa it was most certainly stopable.
I don't think Dominik Hasek would have a good save percentage on this team. |

I'm going to throw this one to you for your two cents:
This team routinely comes out flat after good performances. Folds in big pressure moments. Misses basic positional responsibilities etc.
In the words of Ric Flair, "What's causing all of this?" |

Good point on the flat after a win angle.
I don’t have an answer for you or Mr Flair.
One thing is the inconsistency shift to shift period to period, game to game is maddening.
I like Roy and because of his years of gutsy competitiveness you would think he demands the same out of his team. |

Yep, it's like playing the slot machines at the casino and hoping you'd hit it big. Sure it could happen, but it's not likely.
