I guess it depends on who that prospect is. - Cptmjl
Yeah true. I think his numbers vs cost make his value higher than just a pick. Hopefully for his sake he gets a real shot at the cup. He’s been a great islander. He might be the best draft pick in since Palffy as crazy as that sounds. |

It’s about the best thing going on this season. I would say Tsyplakov is a bright spot also. Has to clean up and refine his game but he’s got the tools. Speed up our rebuild a little bit(hopefully). - Cptmjl
Agreed. Wondering when a change will be made? This losing can’t continue with no change made.

Nelson has been a great player for us. Really hope he wins a cup somewhere. Yeah if this is done right we could get a great return from him. He’s going to be one of if not most sought after guys at the TDL. Especially if there’s a real need for the other team. Really hope Lou doesn’t (frank) this up and do something stupid like sign him. I’m ready for anything but I’m fairly certain he’s trading both him and Palmieri. |

I’m not expecting any change. Maybe Lou retires but I doubt it. I think if he fires Roy he’s putting a bullseye on his forehead that should have been there in the first place. Hoping for big changes but not expecting them other then starting the obvious rebuild that’s been needed for a couple years now. |

I have to admit I’m not thrilled with Patrick Roy. I was all about him when they hired him but I’m not too happy with him thus far. Pulling the goalie for a d zone draw?? Why? Pull the goalie after you win the draw and gain the zone. Horrible risk/reward. |

Puzzling move for sure but there wasn’t much time left on the clock. I liked the Roy hiring(but I also didn’t think this team would do crap this season). I don’t think we can judge the guy with our roster. He’s probably kicking himself for picking the Islanders as a place to reignite his coaching career. He didn’t do his due diligence before taking the job so it’s on him. |

You might be right. I also think he’s had less input than he leads on, with Martin, Engvall and at the time Wahlstrom not making the team, only to have them on the roster. I think it’s kinda bush league for Lou to pick his assistants. I get that Maclean was a good devil but he’s clearly done nothing for the PP. The nepotism has to end. |

This 3rd round pick begs to differ.

I do not agree with Patrick pulling the goalie like he did, but he has to be beyond frustrated. Lou undermined Patrick with those Martin, Engvall, Wally moves. Players have to know the coach and GM are on the same page and the GM will have the coaches back. |

Yeah I guess you’re right. I almost forget about him and don’t consider him an islander as he was traded way too soon (crazy). But I agree he was the best pick after Palffy. |

I’ll take it a step further. Head coaches should pick their assistants. How do you rationale Maclean coming back this year after going 0-21 on the PP last playoffs? Being last in the league on the PP is literal proof of my statement. Keeping Maclean is purely based on favoritism and to me is a fireable offense.
Out of 7 coaches for the isles, 5 of them are former Devils…. |

This is another factor. The Country club is still around. Lou is not interested in icing the best team. It's about Lou's ego and control. |

I think it further exemplifies how the game has passed him by. Whens Kenny Daneyko gonna join the isles broadcast??
Lou’s son is the phucking assistant gm. It doesn't get any more nepotism/cronyism than that |

That's actually an MSG decision, not a team decision. But yeah, that would be pretty funny. Ironically, I kind of like Daneyko, he's not a bad color commentator. |

No he’s not bad and I did realize it’s an MSG decision. I’m just ranting because I think Lou’s hirings are straight outta Snows New England only playbook.

Lou's son will take over the Lou will still be running things from the couch. Patrick should have said no Thank You to this job.

Lou and Garth are certainly similar in terms of how they managed the roster.

Message boards were invented for ranting.
Milbury also leaned heavily into his New England roots (Snow, Bates, DiPietro, Laviolette). It's kind of an Islander thing.
I get that Lou likes to hire people whom he's familiar with, but when the team is in decline, it's an added argument for ownership to clean house. |

Milbury, Snow, Lamoriello….all New England guys.
I just don’t get the sense that ownership has winning as the priority. It’s also a bit concerning that before they hired Lou they asked around vs internally making that decision. I’d feel better as a fan if ownership made a statement or were proactive about a change. Waiting for the season to end to replace Lou is the wrong move in my opinion. 6 years in, and the PP and PK are last in the league…..that screams problem. Continuing with the status quo is eerily similar to Wang and Snow and we saw how that went for 12 years.

You just can’t close your eyes and pretend it’s not happening. 6 years in, and the GM owns the roster. It’s his to live and die with. This season in particular is a pivotal one with real assets up for grabs. The isles have 4 legitimate prospects that can add to this club in the next few years. Whether ownership wants to hear it or not the time to rebuild is now. For me personally I’m ok with a few years of suck knowing it’s for the greater good. What I’m not ok with is a 4th decade of back up goalies and back dooring into the post season, with a team full of 3rd liners and a 1B first line. |

Exactly! Way past time to rebuild. I'd prefer a young hungry team instead of these fat cat vets. There needs to be some sort of rebuild whether the owners are Lou want it or not.
