Yeah Horvats quote the other day was interesting. He praised his time playing with
petterson and then said the isles could use him. I could totally be overthinking this, but does a vet player like Horvat make that statement if there isn’t something to this rumor? Usually they give the formula response of “that’s up to the GM, I just focus on what i can do to help this team win”. |

I would be surprised if the players were in the loop about what Lou was working on, but I'm sure crazier things have happened.
But it's an interesting report and I honestly can't figure out how I feel about it. |

The leak in this is the fact that Petterson is probably being dialed in by his side of a possible trade talk. If so, maybe he’s been in contact with Horvat. It’s certainly more likely than Lou saying anything to anyone.
If this is the “proposed” deal, you make it 1000% and launch Palmieri for a first to recoup the draft asset.
NYI receives: Elias Pettersson ($11.6M)
VAN receives: Noah Dobson ($4M), Casey Cizikas ($2.5M), 2025 first-round pick, Pierre Engvall ($3M) |

Something tells me Pulock would wave the no trade for some sunshine, no state tax and a chance at a cup. Pulock was drafted has a heavy shooting d man. Why is his shot never utilized? I get missing the net but sometimes that’s looking for a deflection. One of the hardest shots in the league and it’s never utilized?!?!
I think Cizikas could add value for some center depth and pk.
I’m just ready to start launching assets. I don’t even think this group has it in them to eek in the 8th seed. The special teams is the worst I’ve ever seen.
Also Pelech taking a foolish penalty in the O zone behind the net with 5 min to go was inexcusable. - kindlyrick
As far as special teams it’s the worst anyone has ever seen. It’s historically bad. |

I think Cizikas was labeled a 4th liner on the isles because that had been their identity line for years. Even under Roy he’s played up. I totally get what you’re saying about age and decline but I do believe Cizikas has ad value for a contender. I don’t think 2.5 for 2 more years would be a deciding factor. Personally I’d love to see both he and Nelson find a cup like Oksposo. All were great isles and all deserve that legacy.
I could see Pulock being a fit on many teams. Maybe the isles take salary off another teams books in order to make that happen. Who knows? I’m just looking at any scenario for change at this point - kindlyrick
I don’t think cizikas is anything more than a fourth liner. I believe he’s a really good fourth liner but one just the same. |

Came up again last night I see. Does everyone understand what I was talking about when I said I didn’t like the timing of the Horvat deal? Make sense now? |

Whatever line he’s on, I hope he hoists a cup somewhere. The guy has been a great islander, and any contender would be lucky to have that kind of heart chasing the cup. He’s a 110% player. |

I'd like to keep Danny Nelson. They can have the other Nelson. Do you think we should move Dobson?

Fair and I agree. Perhaps I’m just a Cizikas fan?
I guess the million dollar question is on ownership and if they continue with the status quo. If they continue standing pat then the argument that they’re only in this for the real estate appreciation holds weight. Too bad Steve Cohen doesn’t love hockey lol - kindlyrick
At least John Spano loved hockey and the Islanders.

Horvat should focus on his own game. I know Barzal and Duke were out, but he was really struggling.

Pettersson would be the kind of player that he'd be worthy of moving him for. Also creates a hole on an already-thin defense though so who knows. George emerging as a very solid prospect helps, but he plays the opposite side. It's not like anyone is kicking down the door to step up and take that role and playing Mayfield in a second-pairing role would be disastrous. I don't know what the path forward is if they're effectively eating up the cap space they're moving with Pettersson's big deal. Obviously moving Palmieri and someone(s) else out would make room to bring in another RHD, but then you're creating several holes at forward and only filling them with one guy. Eiserman isn't ready to step in and, like the blueline, nobody in Bridgeport is kicking down the door to step into a top-six role. |

Moving Palmieri brings in a draft asset that can be flipped for a 2nd pair dman at some point. This season is irrelevant, so I’m fine with loading up for the draft day trade |

I would be worried why Vancouver would be looking to move Pettersson so quickly after giving him a big deal. I would probably not make the deal and I would be worried Lou making a big deal means he is staying. |

He’s really needing a legitimate first liner. Petterson is that guy. I just found it rare that he publically praised his former teammate and then followed up with “we could use him”. That’s not the normal formula response |

I guess they gave miller a big too. One has to go apparently. I guess for the Canucks it’s whatever is the best return. 🤷♂️ |

Bo did well with Barzal last year, but did not so much in the playoffs and this year without Barzal has been a challenge.

No idea why the Rangers would want Miller back. He'll be 32 in March unless it's a fake rumor.

I just wish we would still have Beau, Raty and a lower 1sr round pick in 2023 ~20th overall than Horvat.
I mean forget about how much better those 3 assets are on the ice then Horvat , just think of what those 3 would fetch in assets for our rebuild.
Wow Lou lost big on that deal.

Yeah I sometimes am amazed at how these guys are such babies. Like, let’s be real for a second…..you’re playing out your childhood dream while making life changing money and you just can’t get along? It’s baffling lol |

Seems more that the Miller/Pettersson rift is just stressing out the locker room. They may be "listening" on both but ultimately not planning on moving both. I think it's more of just the issue between the two players than anything else. Acquire the talent and deal with the rest later. Winning cures all issues. |

This is what happens when many players get 7 years deals and NTC or NMC. Hard to discipline or trade the players. |
