"It is believed that if Trouba does not accept a trade, the Rangers told No. 8 they will put him on waivers."
I guess that's one way to get around a no-trade. I wonder if any team would take him. - JimmyP
That's why I think players will start asking for NMC's more frequently. Can't get put on waivers if you have a NMC, but you can if you have a NTC |

They got a draft pick as well? |

And, apparently Anaheim is taking on all of Trouba's salary. Who's running things over there, Mike Milbury? |

Yeah, I must be missing something because I don't see the benefit for Anaheim at all. If they were getting a draft pick in exchange for taking on the salary, it'd make more sense. They're in last place, so it's not like they're a "Trouba returning to form" away from making a run or anything. |

Islanders have to give up prime picks to move a lousy contract. |

As good as he is these huge goaltender contracts never seem to pan out. Here’s to hoping that continues. 💪 |

If this was the islanders it would have been a 1st, 2nd, and half the money. Do not know how the Rangers are always able to pull it off.
They gain 6.9 million in cap space, plus a prospect and draft pick. |

Yeah, there's that, too...but just on its own, I'm really struggling to see any benefit at all for Anaheim. If they were a legit contender, this was the trade deadline, and they felt they needed some extra leadership and physicality to put them over the top, then sure, I'd get overpaying to fill that need for a run.
But here, seeing where they are in the standings, I need someone who knows that team a little better to explain this deal from their perspective in a way that makes any kind of sense.
Cheers to Drury though for getting that done...he did the real-life equivalent of overriding the computer's objection to the trade. |

It’s madness. Remember how the Rangers were able to move Gomez back in the day. Would be nice for Lou to figure some things out for once. The Ranger moves do not always work out, but at least they do not sit on their hands. |

Must be a rule that teams constantly have to bail out the Rangers. Why let this team keep getting back up? Keep them down when they are down. |

Unless they figure they can flip him for more at the deadline. |

I can see this happening. A playoff team would give them a solid return.

Question, and forgive me for asking. When a player with a ntc or nmc clause in their contract is traded. Does that clause still exist in the contract with their new team? |

The Ducks still did a huge favor to the Rangers. Where are the teams taking Mayfield and Pierre?

Highly doubt a playoff team is taking on that contract he’s signed till 26. |

He’s grasping at straws for a few years now trying to recapture what the team was when he took over. Players were a few years younger and trotz was obviously a driving force for that success. |

Why an 81 year old Hall of Fame GM wants to hang around like this is shocking. Barry was a huge reason for the success and it was not brilliant roster moves Lou made. |
