2 shots given up by the Isles in the 2nd. That period won them the game for me. Again best period of the year.

Would love to see that type of performance in a third period

Unless and until the contract gets renegotiated, then all the contract clauses carry over........salary, bonuses, NTCs, NMCs, etc.

Maxim Tsyplakov, what do you think his next contract will look like? He is going to be a RFA with Arb rights.

1 year deal x 1.9 mil? 3 year deal x 3 mil?

I think it’s a bit too early to think about that imo. Only 30 games in and he’s been a pleasant addition to the team. He’s gotten better and better as the season has gone on.
Hopefully he continues to grow and help the team. Plenty of time to get him signed. What the contract he signs looks like I think depends on the whole season.
Great signing by Lou.

Sorokin was solid in the third and the empty netter was the icing on the cake.

Maybe but I was getting tired of discussing blown third period leads. And look it helped the Isles when two games.

At least Drury makes moves when things went awry. Clearing Trouba with no salary retention was a huge win. They were absolute contenders last year too. The isles on the other hand have been a consistent bubble team. Drury sold assets for a rebuild and within 4 years had them contending. We’ve watched “retooling” for two decades and still have a 1B first line (when healthy).

OR.. He caused it to go awry by making Igor's contract negotiation public, by sending every GM in the NHL an e-mail telling them Kreider and their Captain were available, by using the Waiver wire to circumvent an NTC last year and threatening to do it again this year.

Drury has done a ton of damage to their room and the Rags Reputation. You may not like the Way Lou keeps everything close to the vest but it prevents a ton of drama and bad blood between the club, the players, and the agents. (Drury will probablly be fired this summer)

Did Drury make the Igor negotiations public, or was that Weeks? I really don’t recall.

I agree with you that Lou keeping the cards to the vest is the way to handle negotiations. No doubt about that. But, he’s not been able to land the replacement of Tavares and the 10.5 they were willing to give him. He’s had 6 years to build a cup contender and whether anyone likes Lou or not, the simple fact is the isles have regressed. Drury on the other hand has made more prudent moves with first dismantling the rangers and then building them back to cup contention last year. When things weren’t working he’s made adjustments. “Threatening” a player to hit the waiver wire is nothing new and I’d hardly call that threatening. It’s well within the rights as GM for a NTC. Perhaps Troubas agent should have asked for a NMC. Either way, IMO Drury has out managed Lou.

Lou keeping things close to the vest means nothing when he cannot sign top UFA's and produce a better roster. All these players want 7 year deals and NMC or NTC clauses. Enough with these players already.

Aside from the Romy hit, and part of the second PP, pretty rough period.
