Seguin out until playoffs at the earliest. Imagine Mika waived to go there for no state income tax????? Too bad he’s got 6 more years or it would work if Dallas was really dumb

As an ex Long Islander and now a transplant in Texas for 2 years now, I love the no State income tax. Makes a huge difference

They wanted players who could be used on the fourth line and penalty kill. Why CK20 and Trocheck made it and Caufield/Tage didn’t. Guerin better be right.

Honestly though I am surprised a bit they took both Kreider and Trocheck.

Also surprised Canada took Seth Jarvis, and Sam Montembault over Logan Thompson.

Dearest Jan,

Next time please start with a warning. Something like "4 NATIONS CUP RELATED NEWS: X Player Selected To Country Y" because we are in full crazy mode here and I thought something happened to Kakko like a trade for half nanosecond.

Regards,

Pickle

At first I didn't want our players picked, but since our year is now in the toilet I'm not too concerned about it. Will be cool for Kreider to get to play for team USA.

Agreed, I’m surprised they took both. Also surprised on JT Miller considering the unknown about his availability.

Nashville is the team to trade with. They are a disaster as much as we are lol. They need a center and we need Lauzon. Zib waives and goes by the moniker, DJ Smashville

They just gave up 3 goals in like 5 minutes

recency bias makes everyone here hate everyone on the Rangers

the guys running the 4 nations teams don't irrationally hate Rangers right now

The US program has a history of this. Remember the 2016 World Cup they left off guys like Kessel, Tyler Johnson, Fowler, Shattenkirk, Faulk, etc. (some guys who may not have aged great but at the time were high end players) for Callahan, Dubinsky, Backes, Jack Johnson, etc.

They wanted guys that were harder to play against and that filled out a more traditional lineup as opposed to an all-star lineup. It bit them in the ass then as they couldn't score in the tournament. We'll see how it goes now but not at all surprised.

One thing to note too was in the World Cup there was the NA team which had Matthews, Eichel, Johnny G., and other top end guys that were unavailable to the US because of the structure of the tournament.

Yeah, I don't see this US team having those same issues with scoring. On paper, they are about as talented as any team ever assembled for an international tournament.
I don't see how Tage Thompson or Caulfield on the 4th line makes them better than having Kreider. Trocheck maybe, as he is more prone to taking penalties and is having his well-documented difficulties. But, the fact of the matter is that Caulfield is not a complete player and he's in inferior scoring option to the guys in the top 6, so it's beyond me why anyone would see this as news-worthy.

Right that was my point with the last paragraph. We have all this top end talent now that the world cup team didn't have. The USA Hockey brass still likes to build their teams a certain way though, and Kreider/Trocheck fit that mold better than guys like Caufield/Thompson.

Clayton Keller was the guy I was surprised didn't make it, but he doesn't kill penalties either and doesn't produce at the clip that the other guys that will play in the top 6 do so I guess it's not that big of a shock either.

What's everyone's thoughts on the Quenneville rumors? I honestly believe it could happen if they lose a couple more games and continue to play like sh!t. Obviously Drury can't trade a quarter of the team, and with all the NMC's handed out, it's really hard to trade even one player at this point of the season. He can't wait until the deadline to try and fix this mess, so I'm thinking a new coach could be his only move.

I like Laviolette & think he's done a good job overall, but it just seems like this core needs someone to come in and kick these guys' asses. They definitely haven't had a coach like Q before who you know is in charge.
