How the (frank) DOC is in the NHL on a top six line non the less is beyond me. Pull isn’t beating out Beau for a spot in the lineup, Beau is simply the better player. Hayes keeps knocking in the odd goal enough to justify his spot. DOC would be my guy to sit.

I find it hard to believe we're watching the same player sometimes...that kid is bringing so much effort and battle each shift, even if not scoring. I find he creates space, from his hard work, for the other guys on the ice. He goes to dirty areas and I find him pretty good in the 50/50 battles. Its like something he did one time, a few years ago, has stuck with ya or some sh!t hahaha

Love Reaves comments coming back into the lineup. Hope he gets to 1000 games. If anyone deserves it it’s definitely him.

That Graves stat is crazy... definitely past the point of it being a coincidence. What other contract out there in the league is so bad we can do a change of scenery trade with Graves? I don't even know...
- MacPatty

There are a bunch of bad contracts out there. I mean we brought up Anderson from Montreal maybe they would do a swap if they traded a LHD. Pierre Engvall from NYI has been in the dog house. Maybe a swap for him?

Kuzmenko has been benched and shopped heavily. If Calgary trades a defenseman maybe they do a swap. Burakovsky and Bjorkstrand have been benched at points for Seattle maybe they would do a swap? I do think Graves may have minimal, but some value.

I'd do it for any one of those names. Especially Anderson but while he has a big contract, he is at least a positive in the lineup. Loved watching him put a beating on Trouba the other night.

I'd love to give Kuzemenko a try with Malkin but he's on an expiring contract, so no way CGY trades him for Graves unless there are other material considerations headed their way. I'd do Graves and a 2nd for Kuzy all day.

I won't lie I have wanted to see Anderson in a Pittsburgh jersey for a while. I would love to see him as a potential swap. I'm with you on the Cgy trade. They would probably want a pick. Then again while we are talking about hopeful trades maybe a Hoglander for Graves swap

Saw an interesting proposal in another forum Höglander + Bains + 3rd from Vancouver for Pettersson. I think Dubas would definitely like this type of deal with prospects over draft picks.

I'm not anti Hoglander, but in this context he has negative value to me because we already have so many mid six guys. I also don't care about Bains, hes going to be a career 4th liner at best... We have plenty of those.

I'd probably do that deal with Petts 1/2 retained if they also took Hayes back though. I'd much rather have Hogs and a bit of cap space than Hayes next season.

Who would still be here? I'd assume DOC and Beau get traded. Rackell and Bunting as maybes since they have term. Rust has a NTC and Tomasino are the two for sure I see staying. Point being there will probably be 2-3 openings.

Not sure if Hoglander is who to go for or not. Is he even someone you'd take over DOC right now?

I think the Hoglander talk is because I think much as Tojo alluded. I think we are trying to shop other players. I think Bunting is one of the guys who gets shopped. I kind of wonder if Nieto is in there to show off to other teams. Beau and DOC have their names out there.

I think Rakell was gaining interest, but I think him and Rust are staying.

Mac I think Hayes is moved towards the TDL it would just be good asset management even if we only got a 6th for him.

I do think one Wildcard is goalie. Do we potentially trade Jarry or Ned this TDL. Graves could be sold to anyone who would probably take him at this point as well.

We have had rumors of discussions with Van, Mtl, Bos, Buf and Nsh. I could see Bunting being of interest to Boston. I could see Van having some interest in Pettersson, DOC and maybe Jarry.

Hoglander is 24 and has 2 - 10 goal seasons and last year put up 24 goals. He may be undersized his draft comparison was Brendan Gallagher because he likes to go to the net. Many of his goals last season were on deflections and net front. I think him and Tomasino would be great on the 2nd line.

Jesse Marshall from the Athletic is big on Hoglander and has been since the draft. Said that he has that soft spot in the D IQ style that Guentzel had and would work well with Sid.

I'm not actually sure we should be going after Hoglander. I liked him as a draft target too, but haven't followed since closely enough. Just a casual glance says he's had one good year in the past four and that was off a 20% shooting percentage.

As a change of scenery guy if they are looking to get out of his contract? Sure. I'm worried he's going to be the main return for Pettersson though. I'd rather those be separate trades.

My thoughts exactly on hoglander. He does nothing for us now and nothing for our future championship team.

I’d rather picks, prospects, or both. Raty and a 2nd for Petts and the highest of our 3 3rds. I highly doubt we get one of their top prospects like willander unless Van goes beast mode when demko returns and figure Petts is the missing piece.

My concern is that he has had a ripe opportunity to take a top 6 spot in Vancouver and got passed up by the likes of Suter, Joshua and Debrusk.

Hog-Sid-Rack is probably an ok line but I don't think it looks much different than it does having Beau there and he is cheaper. I just think we owe it to Sid to get him a real 1LW capable player, probably the same for Geno.

Id do Petts 1/2 ret, Beau and a 2nd for Wallinder. He's looking like the real deal, I'd be willing to over pay a bit. Vancouver isn't looking like a contender this year but I could see them trying to get Petts and re sign him.

With how weak the Canadian dollar is, I wonder if that puts some more pressure on trying to push for the playoffs for a few extra home games.

I think if Dubas is smart he’s taking calls on everyone. Hogs could be a replacement for rust or rak. Both those guys are 32+.

So Chabot in OTT has an $8M cap hit but $28M in salary over the next 3 years.

Karlsson has an $11.5M cap hit with a $5M signing bonus due at the start of next off-season then just $11M in comp for the next 2 seasons after that bonus.

Sure seems like the stars align for us to pay that signing bonus and then make a trade centered around those two. Think they would owe us some draft comp with it The prophecy will be confirmed when Ottawa trades Jensen to Edmonton.

Like J. Boyd stated Hoglander is like a Guentzel type of player. They tried to play him mostly in the bottom six to add scoring depth last season, but he played a lot better in the top 6. They dropped him for the playoffs into the bottom six and he had a 58% Corsi score in the playoffs. This season they only played him for a very short time in the top 6.

I like that we are going after younger talent in trades. I think it has been something we have discussed in this forum for quite sometime. I still am a bit frustrated that we are being aggressive in looking for younger talent, yet are still shopping DOC. I think DOC should be resigned.

I think calling him a Guentzel type of player is a massive stretch. He is talented and a bit soft but Jakes game is built on vision and really seeing the game better than most. Jake can also make plays with the puck and serve as a set up man which Hoglander cannot.

Thats not to say he cant be a productive player, but other than him finding soft spot in front of the net on occasion and being a bit soft, he really isnt like Jake all that much. Jake is great because he can both find those soft spots and score, but also carry a play and set guys up also. I dont think Hoglander has exhibited that ability.

It makes too much sense for it not to happen, whether it is Chabot coming back or Norris or something else. Karlsson is "the piece" for Ottawa right now on all levels. RHD who can drive offence, hero in the org who will bring back some nostalgia for fans (and jersey sales), his buddy Alfie is a Sr Advisor and the economics make sense for a cash conscious franchise battling a weak CAD.
