Holy hell great morning boys
Soooo many possibilities cap wise depending on if it’s a trade or not |
|
|
|
There are 5 teams with over $8M in cap space that could claim Trouba off waivers with no other moves.
Columbus
Anaheim
Calgary
SJ
Utah

Wow, had a feeling today would be a possible newsy day to log on here for. I'm glad Drury is addressing the lame duck captain situation. Must have realized there was no accomplishing anything with that hanging over the team the rest of the year. |

Trouba should have just accepted the trades over the summer would have had a better opportunity to settle in |
|

I agree. If he was making like 5-6 Mil he would be fine. He is not what they are paying for right now. - JRR1285
Closer to $4m really. Will see what happens |

Sure but even at a higher rate we would not be here right now. |

Okay, Jacob Trouba:
Hearing Rangers do have several options, but Trouba can block with his partial no-trade. Rangers have indicated they will waive him if he does not accept one. One team is believed to be Columbus.
This is absolute hardball, but there is a precedent. In November 2005, Todd Marchant refused to waive his no-trade from Columbus to Anaheim as part of the Sergei Fedorov deal. So the Blue Jackets waived him, and the Ducks made the claim to "complete" the transaction.
We will see what the day brings |

I doubt there would be much coming back our way. Columbus has over $20M in cap space they may just take Trouba for free. Or Trouba + a sweetener |

If this is all true, it will mark the beginning of the end for Drury!! |
|
|

My guess is he ends up in Columbus because the other teams with the space to fit him are either West coast or Canada. I'd imagine he'd want to stay as close to NY as possible so that his wife can finish her residency.
That also makes me think it'll be a trade because if it goes to waivers he'll have no say where he ends up |

It sucks so much Trouba declined so hard after 2022 playoffs. He was actually quite decent that run. |

Why? He's taking care of the problem, a lame duck captain that has declined super sharply over the past 2 years, which is outside his control. He could have just not tried to trade him at the draft this past summer, which would have ensured nothing got out about it. But then he clearly wouldn't have been doing his job either. |

the offensive ability from the blueline was never what I thought we were getting when he came from Winnipeg
his shot never seemed to be effective from the point, very mid skater, not a good PP QB on PP2
tough as nails though, one of best hitters I ever saw put on uniform
not 8 million a year player by any means though |
|
|
|
Whichever team gets him, Rangers players better keep their heads up if they have games against remaining on the schedule. |
|
|
|
I suggest firing Housley while Drury's doing work. Their defensive problems are not just the fault of coaching, but neither is he free from blame. |

He was chosen as Captain just over 2 years ago and now they are treating him as such. Pretty terrible way of treating an employee.
We will soon see what happens next with this team.
One thing is for sure, they will lose a physical part of the game which might hurt us come playoff time. |

The only rangers prospect that has any value right now is Perrault. Trying to put Othman in trade packages is pointless. The rest of the league doesn’t value him like the rangers. He needs to have a dominant season in the ahl and stay healthy first. He hasn’t proven he can play at the nhl level - TPC
I still would trade for him Hawks have abundance of defensive prospects so a swap of Kaiser or Allen for othmannn could make sense for both sides. Or even chytil could also be explored. |
