I know everyone here hates torts but kudos to him for calling out the diving by the bruins. At least two of those calls were not penalties. One we barely touched the players arm and the other was a love tap on a skate. Dive. Well done coach.

Yes, Torts did a fanstastic job stating the truth and standing up for his team. The refs this year have been nothing short of embarrassing.

Right now, prospect pool for the upcoming draft is not as deep as first thought apparently. The team has 2 point per game wingers and only one top 6 center. Seems like an issue. Michkov is such an offensive genius. His timing on the ice on where to be is impeccable. The truly great players have that ability, it cannot be taught
- Trox88

The Flyers need to draft in the top 5 in this draft to get another center. Not going to be able to get there unless they make some trades.

Let's start with Farabee, who once again had the game on his stick in OT and failed miserably. As I stated 100 times, he's an OK player with OK skill, and the Flyers need to move on from him. Same with "All fluff and no stuff" Frosty.

You constantly keep getting this wrong. Nobody thinks that a "Buffalo style" rebuild is the only path. However do think that a true rebuild is the best path and highest percentage path to take. It doesn't matter how many young players are on the team. It matters how many young elite players you have. How do they get them? By being a capped out playoff bubble team? What is winning to you? Is it being a mediocre middle of the pack team? That's winning?
- MJL

Yes in the end I agree with you. I think winning is important and having a culture of winning in important when you onboard the elite players, but the reality is unless a team gets lucky with a later round pick like Carolina and Tampa did with Aho and Point respectively, the best odds of getting that elite player in a draft like the one coming up is picking in the top 5. Now Luchanko may develop into the next Nick Susuki and that would be great, but the botton line is right now in this moment, winning games does nothing for the Flyers. I want the team to try hard and I want Torts to try to win every game he can, but I also want Briere to do the right thing come this trade deadline and trade more players and see if he can get the Flyers into at least the top 10.

They missed a few calls yesterday but saying that that officiating has been embarrassing this entire season is an exaggeration and hyperbole.

Hoping the Flyers can trade their way into the top 10 or higher is not reality. It is unlikely to happen.

Video of Jones interview with kipper and Bourne on sportsnet. Probably been posted. I know many will say he’s lying, but I can’t see him adding anyone and his comments are clear that he will subtract players at the right price. (Can’t see mm being dealt). As long as he’s true to his word, then I have no issue with this. Trade vets for prospects and picks with a view to the future.

True story. MJLs hero Frosty has more minutes played than that scrub Hathaway who should not be on the team but has only one fewer point than poor Frosty who is still basically a rookie bc of injuries and evil Torts mind games shattering the poor kids' dreams of playing in the NHL . Frosty -6 and scrub Hathaway +1

TK deserved to be benched ... he has played a terrible two games in terms of discipline. I don't know what's going on with him but he needs to be a better leader and grow up. I am glad Torts benched him but I am concerned that Torts has to do this at this stage in his career.
- jd250

Hockey is not a video game. Guys play with emotion. TK is a guy that can ride his emotion and use it. It’s a fine line, that he sometimes crosses and he probably needs to be reined in a little. But I am hardly concerned that the teams best player lets his emotions get the best of him once in a while. Torts sent his message and they lost. Todays a new day, new game.

I honestly don’t know what Tortorella was trying to say in that post game presser. What did he mean by, “There’s no cheating. There’s no embarrassing referees, you don’t embarrass the referees.”?

No he doesnt. Hathaways ATOI is 12 mins. Frost is 14 mins. secondly more icetime means little for a scrub. It means a less skilled player is playing against higher skilled players and is actually less likely to produce.
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Hathaway has played 274:43 of ice time at 5 on 5. Frost has played 266.25. Hathaway scores points at a higher rate at 5 on 5 than every players on the team except Brink and Konecny

One shortcoming that I do notice with TK is his hockey sense. I'd say he has average hockey sense. He has good skill and a non stop motor, but he makes lots of ill advised passes. When the Flyers were leading 5-4 the other night TK made a good play to get the puck to the center of the Cats zone, and he had MM opened up for the one timer on his right and half an empty net which MM would have most likely buried. Instead, he took a weak shot into the crest of the goalie's jersey. Nah!!

The last two games the officiating has not been very good. Against FLA it was bad both ways….yesterday the Flyers were on the short end of things. But Coots is correct, those things even out, and when they don’t you have to fight through them.

It's another example of how when someone like Tortorella thinks he is a hammer, he sees everything as a nail. It shows how he has zero feel for the game. Konecny is a fierce competitor. He took a number of heavy hits in the game, including having to the leave the ice in concussion protocol. You add in that that Konecny game in and game out gives his all and leads by example. That player deserves some leeway. Talk to him on the bench, explain the situation but no reason to sit him. Let him go out and correct the issue and make up for it with his play. As good players most often do. Just another example of how bad of a coach Tortorella is.

With a GM that has no desire what so ever to make moves to take a step back and have a chance at a top 5 pick. How, besides winning the lottery, do they get a top 5 pick?

He meant that the Bruins were apparently diving all over the ice trying to get calls. Looks like it worked since they ended up with a 6-2 advantage in PPs.

Very damning stuff on Frosty the other night during the first period of the Florida game. Ashlyn was talking about Frosty firing himself up before games by cussing at himself. They just mentioned that he really has trouble getting fired up for games. He is basically a passive person in a sport that requires aggression! Next!

I have no issue with a coach working the refs during the game or standing up for his team in a post game presser if he perceives that they were on the short stick of the officiating. That's what a coach is supposed to do. However the true message that a coach has to send to his team, privately at best is that if you're going to be out of position and reaching at players with stick checks, putting your stick in players skates. Whether it actually trips them up or that they embellish, you're going to get called. Smart players embellish. It happens all the time

I don’t think you can get fined for saying that about the other team….what he would get fined for was saying the officiating was one sided and sucked. That the zebra’s called the game one way in the 3rd period and missed multiple interference calls and a trip that was no less a trip than the two called on the Flyers. So instead of just talking about the officiating he used the lens of the other team, to get his point across.

Some guys are like that….unfortunately when others around you are super hyped up it is a problem. That’s why some guys go out early and focus on getting hit or throw some hits, some start the chirping. He just doesn’t seem the type.

Every player has his own personality. There is plenty of room for criticism of Frost this season. That anecdotal interview isn't fodder for that.

There are several ways he could have handled it. He chooses the only way he knows. He chooses the wrong one. His pseudo tough guy I will show them approach.

The team is out there fighting for that extra point. The coach knee caps them which shows a lack of respect towards said team.
