I had the pleasure of watching Lindros's rookie season. He was a combination of brute force and elite skill. He was awesome. Michkov is elite skill with a cerebal offensive mind. His timing is just impeccable. Equally impressive to watch. |

Right now, I say Michkov is better than Bedard - jd250
Horrible draft pick. They’ll be lucky to get him over from Russia |

In case you haven’t noticed, a lot of the time I am being facetious making light of the constant negativity here and disdain for those who aren’t all doom and gloom. I do find it absurd that I’ve read comments about the idea that it’d be better if mm hadn’t come over. Or that the team hasn’t been relevant since 75 or that tk should have been dealt at almost any cost. I have read these comments on here not necessarily from you but they’ve been posted.
Those are also facts. Another fact is that just because you say something is a fact doesn’t make it a fact. Most of your comments are opinions. Even if you post them ad nauseaum. - Hextall271
Being facetious is just semantics. It's hyperbole. Nobody said that it would be better if Michkov hadn't come over. I said that there would've been benefits to the Flyers if he had stayed in Russia longer. That's reality. Again, the consensus is that the Flyers haven't been relevant since 2010. Do you remember when they went to the Cup finals that year? That would make a team relevant, correct? Nobody has stated that Konency should've been dealt at almost any cost. Those are all inventions by you, not facts.
My previous post outlined accurately the comments made factually. Your comments are inaccurate and hyperbole. As I posted to you earlier. You are free to reply on the merits of the opinions I offer if you think I'm wrong. I welcome it. |

What does it was not clear what the Flyers would have gotten for him mean? What makes it clear? It was a mistake by the Flyers to re-sign him and not trade him. His contract is not one a team like the Flyers should be getting into and it doesn't matter how much the cap goes up. When the Flyers are ready, if that ever happens. He won't be the player he is today. - MJL

I have to chime in here and I’m in mjl’s corner. While yes there are points made about mm coming over earlier than expected that somewhat have merit…
But the fact is mm is simply proving WHY he should’ve stayed in Russia for another year or 2. Him coming now ABSOLUTELY hurts the flyers for the exact reasons mjl pointed out. The elc and timeline for team to hopefully gain more top and talent.
Mm hurts the flyers by proving as he is now that he is really that good. He is him. As many predicted and myself have stated since before draft he would be best of draft.
Think Kaprizov. Could Kaprizov have come over earlier? Absolutely. But it didn’t hurt him to stay in Russia same as it wouldn’t have hurt mm. It only hurts philly in the long run.
In the short run profits soar and surely was the main goal |

The ELC is completely irrelevant, whatever timeline they have they weren’t going to be good with him on an ELC |

Encouraged why? He will be injured by the weekend - Stayin alive
Need to also look at the opponents. When he plays well over an extended period against good teams then see how he does. |

I'm not sure there is a comparison between Kaprizov and Michkov on staying in Russia longer. Ovi

Not sure I agree on Michkov staying in Russia hurts the Flyers long run. Ovi came over at 20, was it a mistake for the Caps? It's up to the Flyers to build around Michkov now. No excuses.
Michkov was loaned to Sochi, had pneumonia, and lost his father. Get the feeling he was pretty eager to get out of Russia. I think the whole he was definitely staying 3 years in the KHL was more smokescreen then fact. |

He would have been a cost controlled asset for two seasons on a contender. There would have been a huge haul. This is literally why everyone wanted him traded - ClaudeFather
I know why people wanted him traded, because simply they want the Flyers to tank for a top draft pick. This leadership has made it clear it’s not how they want to build this. I reached TK resigned if the price was right because he is the type of player I want to root for as a fan. |

More skill upfront. Cates and Poehling are redundant. Frost is not here long term. They need 2 centers. I do think the blueline is closer then the forwards. Risto is going to have to go. Andrae and Drysdale will see what they become. I'm more positive about the outlook of the blueline, then most. Tonight, they stood up at the blueline really well, needs to be more consistent. |

I want to root for a team that can win the Stanley Cup rather than a good player on a mediocre team.

What are they building dude? They lucked into Michkov and other than him and TK, there’s nothing here. A couple of ok defenseman. Centers are putrid and there is no help coming. |

They need more skill all around. Elite skill to be specific. What's the best way to get more elite skill?

Draft or trades, free agent market has not been good for years. Arguably the best free agent signed in relation to contract value and production- Vincent Trocheck. With cap rising, free agent market will only be worse. I'm not against making hockey trades. Just can't miss on hockey trades. I believe the last hockey trade the Flyers tried was Risto. Swing and miss. Drysdale was a hockey trade. For me, way too early to judge. |

The elc is COMPLETELY relevant. In a few years he’s gonna get paid big. Right? What does that do the cap? Does it not limit things like cap space? Ability to sign players? Maybe force them to move players to fit him in? Help to limit taking cap back in deals to build around him?
The timeline isn’t only about well is the team good or not. |

He’s going to be paid no matter what, and probably for 8 years, delaying that by one year or maybe at most two, is completely irrelevant. They weren’t going to be contenders or even close to that in this 3-5 year time range. What do you not understand |

Their plan is to try and use trades and free agency. They view the addition of Michkov as the beginning of go time. They're just waiting for the cap to clear up and a deal or deals they like. They may very well improve the team but nowhere near legit contending status. It's ultimately going to lead to another capped out failure and another round of the cycle they've been stuck in 14 years and counting

Don’t get me wrong I’m not opposed to the move they made bringing him over. Personally I would’ve like him to stay in Russia for a year or 2 for many reasons.
1) I don’t want him around torts
2) he too good a player and hurts their current draft position for getting top end talent
3) the things you mention for bringing him here…. Most oversea player deal with adversity coming over here and when. Mm has already proven he can handle it right? So what makes you think he would’ve broken or been for worse by staying in Russia another year or 2? He has already proven he can and would handle it fine. Why did these things not have some results on him up to this point? Fathers death. Trade in Russia. Loan whatever. Politics all the reasons given for getting him here now?
I don’t think for a second flyers were overly concerned about any of that or mm for that matter. Their #1 priority to get him here was simple…
