Agreed, although I really dont mind Minten there...I know its only been 9games and he's a rookie but he looks decent.
Obviously that could change - Fakepartofme
Overall his line has been okay. He had a rougher start - as you might expect - with poor performances against Vegas and Utah, and between then and now against Chicago and Washington - but ironically for the most part he's done okay. Even in the crapfest that was the last Jersey game, he was not outshot at 5v5 - shots were 2-2.
From a forward perspective he's played mostly with Lorentz and Robertson (and then Alex Nylander and Grebenkin drawing in more time than others). Both Lorentz and Robertson have fared and performed better off of Minten's line - but both Grebenkin and Alex Nylander were made better with Minten - which you'd sort of expect because it speaks to the calibre of play they're bringing to the table often augmented by experience.
Still he's +2 and has 4 points in 9 games. Dewar has 1 point in 12 and Kampf has 3 points in 18. He's getting results. His underlying numbers suggest both that he's improving but also that his current production - or tangible results - are probably not sustainable without more continued improvement. |

O'Rielly.
Nashville is currently playing on a 57 point pace.
To get to 95 points (the lowest require points for a final wildcard in the past three years) they need to play the rest of the season at a 116 point pace.
Their season is effectively over - something that will become even more painfully apparent in the next month.

I like this lineup! - Cush29
I like the lineup - I think the biggest challenge might be winning puck battles. Just to reiterate the Law's proposal:
Domi - Matthews - Nylander
Pacioretty - Tavares - Marner
Knies - Minten - McMann
Lorentz - Kampf - Dewar
There's some decent size in the bottom-6 and reinvented Patches is hitting everything. That part all works.
For me the biggest concern is that when Domi, Matthews and Nylander have the puck they should be pretty good. When they don't, there's not a lot of board battle or size to win those critical battles. Matthews does it well - but realistically Willy plucks pucks, he doesn't win as many physical battles, and Domi battles, but loses. I think it's why having a guy like Knies, Bunting or Hyman up with Matthews (and Marner or Nylander) always worked so well - because they create some space by creating chaos or being in a place where the defenders don't want them (lip of the crease).
I don't know what the solution is - but Knies - Matthews - Domi appealed to me conceptually, with Nylander moving to the third line, but getting more minutes (double shifting PP, being used for momentum, what-have-you) . . .add some speed and offense to the 4th line, send him out with Lorentz for a shift or two.
I don't like the optics and likely results of putting Nylander on the third line - unless he's getting his ice. |

I like the idea of giving Minten some skilled, heavy wingers. I’d give that kind of combo to see if it allows the team to address something other than 3C at the TDL |

We have had this insane run in the past two weeks . . . my mother-in-law has been sick for quite some time - she has been battling amyloidosis and doing chemotherapy for it and it's kicked her ass badly. She's lives here with us but is in a palliative care program and is signed up for ultimate hospice care already. She was diagnosed with Stage-4 cancer yesterday and is now in the hospital while they try and empty her lungs of fluid.
Last week my son broke his ankle playing basketball and the day before we went to the fracture clinic, I received a call that my father was in the ICU for a kidney infection.
Yesterday I was concerned something was terribly amiss with me - abdominal pain, relentless dehydration and so on - but I'm thinking it's just an infection that will go away on its own, but I am hoping to get antibiotics just in case.
We don't even have our tree up yet. It's been complete chaos. And sitting in the midst of this chaos my wife and daughter have to be looking around just thinking, "WTF is going on around here?"

The Maple Leafs have assigned Marshall Rifai to the Toronto Marlies.
Nikita Grebenkin has been recalled from the Toronto Marlies.
Backcheck, Forecheck, Paycheck is back baby!
Oh and the less sexy Nylander brother cleared waivers.
I would like to see the Leafs get another Tanev and have 2 sets of brothers! |

I like that lineup as well.. I think a bonus is that you could get rid of Kamp for salary and slot Holmberg into the 4th line.
