I missed portions of the game, including the entire second period - but from what I saw Marner had a better 1st, and Nylander had a better 3rd - and this observation does include Nylander's sweet double batted goal. I thought the Matthews-Knies-Marner looked very effective in the first - and ironically I thought the Patches-JT-Nylander combo looked a little scary at both ends of the ice.

I'll forgive Marner for the missed empty net on the trickler - he gained the zone, did all the right things . . . and I guess going for a buzzer beater with 0.6 seconds remaining on the clock is a bad idea and if it comes back to bite you in the ass it's a REALLY bad idea, but even though I don't really agree with it, I get the motivation.

I do actually think Montembeault was a good choice - but we'll see. Let's face it - Canada doesn't exactly have a gigantic pool of goalie talent to select from. It's like being the best ice hockey goalie in Suriname. As long as no one visits and you never leave your country, you can talk crap all you want!
