Minnesota had contacted Drury on acquiring Miller. Upon that word, there was additional rumor that Drury may have been interested in one of their d'man in Jonis Brodin. But he is I believe over the age of 30, (vs. Miller 24), and was out injured recently.
I would not do that deal as a one for one swap, not only due to Brodin's age difference & recent injury, but also since he has a $6M cap hit. There would have to be an additional asset(s) coming back here, despite Miller's early struggles.
Furthermore, the d'man (Vaakanainen) acquired in the Trouba trade I believe began skating again, but without word of a timeline for his availability due to his injury suffered while with Anaheim. - RangerSaver
I would trade Miller for a used flat tire

I added an EDIT to my post you replied to shortly ago.
Brodin has 3 years remaining on his contract with the Wild. |

Yea he’s a force when he’s on.
You never know tho, injuries could get him on. Teams have a bunch of games still to play |

In addition to his struggles here thus far this season, the key reason why Miller could be made available is due to him also still seeking an increase on a long term deal.
So why would Drury want to swap him even up for Brodin out currently on I.R., (if the rumored word was accurate of that being the trade); and in effect paying a 6 year older d'man the app'rx. extra $2.2M (increase) difference instead of giving it to a 6 years younger Miller? That, unless the Wild will retain that difference of Brodin's cap hit; especially if no additional asset is coming back here.
We know Miller doesn't deserve one up to this point, (yet one in the $2.2M approximate difference in increase to equal Brodin's money). But if it's a one-for-one trade as rumored, this deal could come back to bite the Rangers for years, should a change of scenery for Miller develop him into what they expected when he was first drafted by them. |

Are you really willing to give him a raise? That’s ultimately the problem here. If he wasn’t coming up on his 3rd contract then yea you probably wait it out some more. I think hes Ryan Graves. He’s tall and goofy and you with softness? No one has ever been softer. The tools are there but they come out like a hibernating bear.
I’d prefer Middleton if they sent him to Minnisota. Or I’d trade him for Ferraro from SJ. Brodin I admit doesn’t knock my socks off |

I’m not saying Miller is untouchable. I’m saying Miller for a 31 year old is a waste. You want to trade Miller; fine (I don’t agree, I think he has too much raw talent and it’s all mental with him) but I can see why some want him gone. But again, not for a 31 year old on the decline when Miller’s prime is still ahead of him. |

I could agree with that.
Trading him definitely should be considered tho. I think SJ he could be really good. I think him in NY is not a good place for him to play, Jmo
I know Ferraros numbers aren’t great, but playing on SJ doesn’t help numbers at all. That guy blocks shots like crazy. Hes only 26 and he’s got a very reasonable contract
If they got him and Lauzon, the defense and toughness would increase dramatically. You know I’m on board with Lauzon, big time. But I think he’s banged up right now
And I think Jones is becoming too good to not respect as a regular. He’s been one of our better players for a few weeks. That play tonight when he broke his stick, he played it perfectly. Hes throws more hits then Miller does too lol |
