I agree. I could handle having Seeler if they didn't have Ristolainen. - MJL
seelers play has dropped already in the 1st of 4 years. but not worries the flyers can waive him as many like to say. |

I think the vets that were resigned were cheap (Seeler, Hathaway, Johnson) - gritty_committee
There is no need for Johnson on this team -- seeler got 4 years and a NTC clause Hathaway got 2 years seeler and Hathaway should have been traded for assets - they could have been resigned in the off season on a one year deal and delt again |

Actually I was thinking the same thing as I watched the hats reign down last night. Here is the good news. Jones has confirmed that the Flyers will be sellers this season, and that the organization recognizes the Flyers are not close and need to stay true to the rebuild.

So all I can say to those that keep spewing disinformation about the Flyers plans this year (Its not a rebuild! the Bristish are coming! Its not a rebuild!) STICK IT! - jd250
So if it is a rebuild, what was last year all about? |

After living thru the Bob introdiction into the NHL and being bounced, I want to see how the Kolosov situation plays out. Bob got 83 games as a Flyer. I would hope the workload split is 60-40 split for Ersson. Kolosov would get approximately 20 more games. |

I look at their actions - you take their word as gospel - rebuilding teams do not resign their 3rd and 4th line players to extensions - they sign aging vets on the cheap to fill those roles if their talent pool is shallow.

I like his game so far but we have to be patient. I like the idea of a 60 40 split as riding ers too much doesn’t work as we saw last year. I wonder what they’ll do with feds? You can send him for a conditioning stint but that doesn’t solve the issue long term. I guess you could send him down and I’d expect he’d clear waivers. |

Neither Seeler or Hathaway for the roles they play, are on cheap deals. - MJL
I don’t think they are holding us back financially or on the roster. flyers pay a little more for character, so be it.
you can either plug the holes in your roster with character guys or a bunch of misfits who don’t really want to be there to save a few bucks.
Surely there’s a pros and cons list out there for either route. |

easy choice to me. Send Ivan down.
In the meantime, a conditioning stint will buy some time. not sure what they are waiting for. |

these types should not be getting 4 year deals for where the flyers are at.
you trade them. acquire assets. sign the next batch to a 1 year deal. complete the same process.
flyers don't seem to want to give their own in-house players a shot. if not for a lot of injuries andrae still in LHV. Now someone who should be playing has to sit. |

I agree. You can’t just let him sit forever here. If there is an injury then he’ll be rusty. Have him play in the a for a good stint. Continue to Work on his game. |

I believe he'll be sent down and a good chance thru injury will be recalled. He'll have to capitalize on the opportunity when it presents itself. Give credit to Kosolov- he bet on himself and is seizing the moment. Notice we are not getting any stories of teammates taking shot at his head in practice like the Cechmanek days. Maybe not quite the diva as first reported.

I think they are. Helge Grans has shown he at least can hold his own at the NHL level. Zamula can play at the NHL level. If it wasn't for Drysdale injury, Andrae would probably still be in the AHL. The Flyers are famous for over cooking prospects so long, never giving them a legit shot that they eventually become an after thought. Players like Hathaway shouldn't be on the team. There is redundancy with players like Laughton and Poehling in roles when Cates is a better player. They love their vets. There is no indication that they're not going to continue to do that, which is part of why they are so bad at managing the salary cap. The Flyers tilt too far over middle ground when it comes to veteran "character" players. Add in a head coach with a proven fault of overvaluing and overplaying grinders and role players. |
