The angst level on here has been turned up a notch or two I see. Sometimes you just have to accept that we had our shot(s) at it, and it didn't turn out. When you get to the final 4 five times in twelve years, odds are you win one championship at least. Didn't happen for us. Let's not all act like this year was going to magically be the year it happened if not for Drury asking Trouba to accept a trade and playing hardball with Goodrow. We all have eyes and can see what we lacked the past three years when it came down to it. - t-dawg
What I dont see is what the benefit of waving Goodrow and trading Trouba and KK but not getting anything to reinforce the team. |

Agreed there. I think they need to come to terms on selling now. Roster has plenty of holes but it goes deeper than that. I think Lavi will get fired even tho Drury should go first.
At the tdl sell off Lindgren miller vesey smith borgen jones.
In the summer figure out what to do with kreider and see if panarin wants out if we go full retool/rebuild.
Biggest issue and they have to explore all options is getting rid of zib.
This team needs a 1c 1RW and 2-3 new dmen. They could do work to the defense in FA. A true 1c happens in the draft |

Keep Borgen. He's young..cheap and has some snarl |

He’s does but also an FA. Not sure they want to give him a raise. He’ll be 28 or 29 next year. Also he hasn’t been great so will see. They could probably get a 2nd/3rd for him |

Unless his play and/or skating return to what we saw last year in Seattle, keeping him - based on what he will want in free agency - makes little sense. |

I see quite a few scenarios here about doing the mini - semi mini and full rebuild...
Getting rid of guys or trying to...
How do you guys think this affects Shesty... as he just signed up for 8 more... You think he's ok with a rebuild... even a mini reset... I don't think Drury can go to his best player with that and not expect to get an earful from Shesty...
That has to complicate what Drury can really do No ??? |

He’s a pending UFA. Don’t think he will stay cheap |

So by saying we all saw what was wrong, and not addressing it, ur basically admitting it’s Drury bc Drury is in charge of getting us what we need …… |

He’s not that young, he’s 28 and isn’t that good . |

At that point who really cares. He got his nmc and money. They aren’t winning with this roster and what’s happening now. He needs to be on board or go elsewhere

They just need to scratch Mika until he accepts a trade and that trade is going to suck for us because who the hell is going to take his contract without a huge sweetener. It’s not that he’s not playing up to his contract anymore it’s that he actively makes the team worse. You can’t even put him on the 4th line because he literally cannot play hard. Even if he sits in the press box eating up 8.5m in cap space it’s better than him being quite literally one of the worst forwards in the league out there every night. Benched or traded mika, and then smith, lindgren, jones (for his sake at this point), vesey at minimum need to get shipped out for assets. I leave kreider off this list because he’s still valuable at $6.5m if we intend to compete next year. Just as a special teams merchant who plays 3rd line minutes. Would be a shame for him to retire anywhere else unless he’s just given up here. Drury, barring some act of wizardry, should be punted to the moon but he won’t be

Someone on this team needs to grow a set and call out the players and air out the dirty laundry publicly. I feel like its the only way to get a resolution. |

I don’t see him ever waiving. I think his family loves living in New York. And I don’t think he really cares that much about hockey at this point anyway. His game shows it. So even if he is benched he may just accept it for 5 years |

Like I said, the team is better without him on the ice. Especially in crucial moments. He’s a liability in every facet. |

It’s going to be a rough 2 years. I think they turn the tide by ‘27 |

Drury hasn’t been great but the blame is squarely on the players. They are a bunch of emotional losers who aren’t even trying. Grow a pair. You’re getting paid millions. Get them all out of here - TPC
I agree wholeheartedly. Druey has been far from perfect, but it’s up to the players on the ice to perform. If your butt hurt because a couple of players were traded, March into the GM office and demand a trade. I like KK but he will be nothing but a third liner JMHO. |

Well, I dont think it was that bad. He just said since hes young he will be the victim any time the team doesnt perform. |

He said others deserved to be scratched before him. Being in the NHL, I don’t know how much more your gonna get for calling out team mates |

Ah I missed that part.
Maybe he knew exactly what he was doing and did it on purpose. |

So we added Smith and Borgen
Got rid of Trouba Goodrow Kakko

Thought about this a ton when it happened and since. If Kakko had just stopped at he felt he didn't deserve to be scratched, leaving it implicit that others should have been before him, nothing would have been said. By making it explicit and saying others deserved to sit first or more, he is and was viewed as a bad teammate. Both would have been saying the same thing, but it's the said rather than unsaid that is the problem.
if he had just stated that he felt he didn't deserve to be scratched (and possibly added he wasn't the worst one). would your view be different? |

When they sold Trouba and Kakko it’s trying to start the move pieces out process. You can’t fully judge what the final project looks like till more are moved. Trouba was moved primarily to create 8 million in cap space. The Kakko trade isn’t great at first glance but if they can flip Borgen for close to a 1st at the deadline, it looks way better. It’s to early to judge since they clearly aren’t trying to win this season now |

Have this funny feeling with all this cap space opening up you can’t help but think they are going to make a massive run for Rantanen. |
