All speculation as the article I just presented from a reputable source has stated. Show me one article that states this claim is factual and confirmed by either side.

The article itself speaks of sources on what happened. There is no statement in that article that everything is speculation. You're wrong

Well said. I was pissed when the news came out that he refused to play here, but after I thought about it a bit I came to the same conclusion. This team does not deserve the benefit of doubt.
- Dkos

But Quitter does? Bonk seems over the top excited about being a Flyers prospect.

False! There is not even a report that has stated Quitter aired his concerns. Furthermore, Briere has stated consistently he has no idea why Quitter decided he didn't want to play for the Flyers, and Quitter has not retorted that claim, because he can't!
- jd250

briere is a fn putz. they know why. only blind fools like yourself believe him.

the fact you think his agent didn't tell them why shows your homerism and defend to the end mantra.

Was this blog locked for everyone last night? Any idea why?

What do you all think of the way Jett’s being used? Coach seems to feel he’s a defensive specialist only. Didn’t get any 3 on 3 time in OT. didn’t give him a shot in the shoot out even after scoring that nice breakaway shorty. Seem a bad move to me to not at least give him a go in the shoot out; especially when it went to a second round.

- Dkos

He's on the younger side. It's not uncommon for younger players to take on lesser roles if not mistaken in tourney's like that.

You had me until the mature person..please.…a mature person deals with a situation head on, not hide behind his mommy and daddy and agent….Now .do I think a rookie GM botched the situation? Yes. But for the kid to go scorched earth along with his parents and agent is a little azz holish….honestly the lack of details to come out this long after the situation tells me there’s a lot of blame on both sides.
- landros 2

disagree to an extent. you pay a agent to deal with the outside noise.

cutter has been quiet and never bashed the flyers. that is being mature. one day he will give his version.

I can only judge others as I judge myself, and on this issue they [The Flyers] are right. They were owed an explanation. Anytime I’ve left an organization, I’ve let it be known exactly why.

Adam Fox made sure to do it with both Calgary and Carolina, as did Blake Wheeler (also a fifth overall selection, back in 2004) when he said no to Arizona. I completely understand why the Flyers — under new management, trying to change their organization — would want clarity. If they made a mistake, they want to know how to fix it, or make sure they don’t do it again.
- Elliott Freedman

Clearly no one knows for sure what happened. And clearly the Flyers were willing to make it right.

No. I don’t think either side is blameless, but I’m inclined (from experience) to think the Flyers must have botched things in some way.

It's scorched Earth because clearly he took not being offered a chance to burn the 1st year of his ELC so personally that he picked up his marbles and stormed home. In that May meeting, he could have simply stated he was very disappointed that Briere did not let him burn the first year and he wanted an explanation. And then tell Briere, hey, I am willing to put that in the past and sign the contract, but we still want my 1st year burned. Briere and Jones have shown they are willing to negotiate terms with players. Kolosov is a great example of that. So is Fedotov. So IMO Quitter did go scorched Earth on the Flyers, which was completely unfair. Give Briere a chance to make it right and move on with a great organization where he had all the opportunity to develop as a player.

they caved into boths demands.

Jamie Drysdale has only played 170 NHL games, and 123 of those games were played for the structureless Ducks. Defenseman typically take 200-300 NHL games before they become what they will ultimately be. It's simply too early to write this kid off, unless of course he can't stay on the ice.
- jd250

More contradictions from you and inconsistencies. Drysdale is a Flyer, so he gets ample time and leeway to develop from you. Just like you declared in a recent post that Luchanko proved he was a top 6 NHL center. Gauthier though, because of what he did and that he's not a Flyers. You state that after 33 NHL games, he isn't going to reach his potential. It's apparently not too early to write that kid off.

Fine, call it caving. Whatever you want to say happened, the Flyers clearly have demonstrated they are willing to go above and beyond for players they believe can be part of the future here. They would have done the same for Quitter if he allowed them.

I'm writing this kid off not because of his ability, but because of his bad attitude. I have seen this movie a 1000 times before.

Yes, I agree neither side is blameless. But did the Flyers do something so egregious that Gauthier was justified to demand out? That is where my beef is.

We know a lot about what happened as fact. The Flyers screwed up. All they had to do was sign him and burn off his first year of his ELC. The same thing many teams have done in the same situation. It was an easy call and a blunder and another in a line of very poor decisions made by this franchise,

I don't like the way Jett is being used, but hey if he can help Canada medal being the Scott Laughton on the team, I am fine with that. He is only 18 years old, just being on the team and contributing is enough for now, but there is clearly more in there.
- jd250

flyers will pray jett is the next scott laughton. a franchise icon. been for for what 14 years now?

maybe just maybe they caved as they learned their lesson from the cutter situation.

they didn't do the same for cutter hence why he wanted out.

That's irrational and very poorly thought out. His so called "bad attitude" made him one of the best college players, a finalist for the Hobey Baker award and a top 5 NHL pick. You simply have a ridiculous bias and are butt hurt because he didn't want to play for the Flyers.
Again, every player for the Flyers deserves time to develop. Other players on other teams don't. You know right away. Players also develop emotionally and in maturity as they get older.

I agree, would have liked to see more of him. Maybe because, we’re Flyers fans and little biased. It could be because that team is stacked with offensive talent, that those players are probably further along with their offensive game than Jett at this point. You’re right about the defensive side, he seemed to get the important face-off draws. How about Bonk? Anything jump out about his game ?

I watched in person at least a dozen BC games with Gauthier playing. He was good, but he was not at the level of Smith or Leonard. For him to make the statements he has made shows arrogance and entitlement. There are plenty of players his age and even younger that show far more maturity and professionalism that Gauthier. I stand by my statements about him.

No I won't. If the Flyers go into this next draft picking 14th, 25th and 29th I will drill them to high heaven. They need a top 10, preferably a top 5 pick to move this rebuild forward.
