Not sure they can get him under 4M at this point.

They have a decision to make. But on the third line instead of Dvorak, why not?

He reminds me of what Danault did for us years back.

Because if we let Dvorak leave for nothing we are admitting we lost the Kotkaniemi saga

I think they have to sign him back and will just be for much more than first expected.

Well they did

Hey, they might get a 6th round pick for Dvorak at the deadline

Replace him by who? ... we're already weak at center.

oh I can see a team trading a first for him at this point, he has been that good.

But the thing is that he has been better than a late first round pick for the Habs this season as well.

I think he might have a value similar to Lekhonen, Hagel, that kind of players...

4th line centers to end the season are not that hard to find...
Condotta, Beck...
not saying I'd trade him, but it is definitively an option. we don't know, maybe his agent is asking for 5M per on his next deal. then what do you do? you give him 5 per? or let him walk for nothing?

Keep Evans on the 3rd line and slot in Beck next year on the 4th ... easy peasy.

yup, and besides you need a young veteran like Evans, the habs already have plenty of picks, it would be unnecessary imho.

I think it would be unrealistic for Evans and his agent to be firm on 5M, he's getting a raise but it's gonna be below that.

I mean, the 3rd round pick ended up being Engstrom, and he's doing pretty well.

Garfield, a well respected poster, just said he reminds him of Danault.
how much did Danault get on the market? and the cap is going up.
I agree with you, from here, 3-3.5 looks reasonable, but if he thinks he can get 5 on July 1st.... like I said we don't know what's going on in these contract discussions.

meh, Danault is much more skilled offensively, I don't see this as a true comparable.
