I like McTavish's game, plays with some edge. Gauthier may turn into a player, but he is strictly a finess, perimeter forward at the moment. Seen other ANA games, same style of play. |

The only Flyers who looked awake for this game was Errson. A sleepy uninspiring win. - DANCER
That's just the system. A Boring system makes teams look slow or uninspired. Flyers just have better Veteran players than the Ducks. Like Killorn, Vatrano, Strome on the Ducks are more like role players. They're good guys. But they don't drive play. Mctavish, Zegras, Carlson, and Terry are the best Ducks fowards but have alot to learn. And it really showed in this game. Flyers just have better fowards. While Ducks have better Defenseman. Pat Verbeek really needs to add another good top 6 foward. |

Does Verbeek have a long leash? Seems like he does. |

Pretty long but not infinite. He told the Ducks owners what he was going to do. And they believed him. So a little bit of this situation is on the owners. But still. I'm predicting that Verbeek doesn't get a contact extension. Which is another 2 or 3 years from now. |

At least Farabee scored today, the only way he can, into an empty net |

Classic Flyer PP where the opposition gets the better scoring chances. - Pelle31Forever
This has got to be it for Rocky Thompson. They need better players but they have enough to have a decent power play. The Flyers need a new voice on offense. |

Only way Rocky is removed from the bench is when Torts leaves as HC. Wish it was different. They have not had an answer for consistently entering the zone for three years.

Options for Cates are sign or trade. Which is more likely? - furio16
8 year extension because “he’s a heart and soul kinda guy and great in the locker room” |

It won’t work out as the Flyers squandered a high level asset and will likely have very little to show for it. |

So, it looks like Michkov was benched for the 3rd. The coach needs to stop F’ing with these guys. Either play the boys or scratch em. This yo-yo crap needs to stop. Such an old fashioned and past its prime methodology.
No one got Cates and Hathaway jerseys for Christmas, they all wanted MM39. This coach cannot get through to most of these kids. Why? My guess is because he doesn’t evolve with the players and doesn't understand how to. I am becoming more and more convinced that it’s the coach messing with this guys confidence. Hes too rigid. |

The rules are random but will be strictly enforced.
I have never been more frustrated with a Flyers' coach in the 53 years I have been watching this team. It's truly unbelievable how petty this guy appears to be. Some guys can suck consistently with no consequences, but for some guys who should be meaningful players in the future, he yanks them around, destroying their confidence because it's the only trick he knows. I cannot wait until he is no longer the coach.
Edit: Saw Torts' response in the post-game press conference. I am not entirely sure I buy his answer. Jerking him around and benching him will not get him going. My gut tells me that letting him work through his issues by continuing to play him seems like a better strategy. The "hitting the wall" concept, while it sounds good, is ultimately meaningless. They're not changing the schedule to below 82 games any time soon. Players have to learn to work through it. Particularly since there are other guys on the team that seemed to hit the wall back in October. |

Look at Tanner Jeanott. Young player was moved for a 1st, 2nd, 3rd and a 4th. Contenders dont give a poop
Goodrow, Mantha, Hartman(CHI to NSH) also got 1st round picks - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Today the comparable for Cates would be Pius Suter, Jordan Martinook and before this season maybe Connor McMichael before he got elevated. Cates was taken in the 5th round. He’s a solid 3C but I don’t see him getting a 1st.

Sit MM but Ryan P fumbled almost every puck, has been doing it all season, giving up possession, just dumb. Just want MM to get playing, the rest to raise their value and finish bottom 10 |

I thought he was invisible. Like a lot of rookie players….he was not a factor in the game. To be fair I didn’t think Michkov did a lot. That’s Rookies…. Up and down. |

Poehling makes so many bad plays….never seems to win a defensive draw. But he gets himself in the proper position…he’s a strong skater. He a 4th line Center all day long. One that should play 8 minutes a night. |

Power forwards take a bit longer and Gauthier was always gonna have to make a ton of adjustments as a pro, so it's too soon to judge him.
Drysdale on the other hand... still looks like a lost cause.

That remains to be seen. I still think his skill level will make him a decent NHL player. I’m not sold on Drysdale either. I still think he’s the type of guy they need to stay with and develop. As well we will see what the 2nd rounder …probably around 35-36 this year turns in to. But watching CG tonight…I see a rookie that still needs a lot of work and development. |

When Gauthier was on the ice, the Ducks controlled play. He was second on their team in individual scoring chances. He had a xGF% of 75.97%. When he was on the ice, the Ducks had more scoring chances and high danger chances.
