I hope Guelph trades him soon. He is dying on the vine on that $hitty team.

A bad team doesn't help but Jett's gotta show he's capable of taking that next step regardless.

A sufficiently talented kid should still be able to rise above their poor team at that level, where they're going up against a lot of 16-17 year olds and undrafted overagers.

Good chance he's going to wind up a good NHL player but it's going to take 5 years or so.

I don't think anybody could reasonably argue that Jett is having a better D+1 season so far than Zeev. Nobody has a crystal ball on where they'll be down the road, but judging strictly on what they've done pre and post draft day, Zeev is (way) ahead.

Jett needs to have a monster D+1 breakout. So far it has yet to happen. He's getting left in the dust by his peers.

- Tomahawk

Jett is also playing for a bad Guelph team that just had their best defenseman traded off the team. Zeev is playing in the NCAA. You and I don't have a crystal ball but right now its impossible to project who is better than or way ahead of the other. Jett has played 4 NHL games, Zeev has yet to play a professional game. I could make the argument that Jett is ahead of Beev which I wouldn't do.

As prospects go Zeev is well ahead of him. Not even that close at the moment.

You'd be making that argument based on the Flyers incompetence. Their poor decision making has zero bearing on who is ahead as a player. It would just be another one of your absurd viewpoints.

The G trade was Tippett and the 1st rd pick. So right now, it is an unquestioned fact the prospect picked will not be a difference maker on top of the production Tippett is currently giving at the NHL. Time will tell how good Bonk will become- social media scouts may turn out to be correct- srill way too early to tell.
So I disagree the structure of this type of trade was not a failure.

- Trox88

It's windows dressing if it doesn't move you to legit contention. Tippett is now signed to a contract that they shouldn't have given. It's just going to bind up the cap. The first rounder is unlikely to add elite talent. All you propose is going to do is move them towards being a playoff team unable to contend. Making itnev3n less likely that they can add elite talent. It's fools gold.

Maybe, but as Tomahawk mentioned he is getting behind with his peers. Maybe a trade would benefit him but jd250 thinks this kid is going to be a true 1C. I just don;t see it... will he be a good player? Yes. Will he be elite? Don't think so... not very encouraged with his + year or his play in the WJC.
- Flyfly

The draft was 6 months ago, it’s way too early to say he’s falling way behind. The flyers set him back by keeping him so long. Tough year for him, he gets a late start to the flyers incompetence, the break from world juniors where he doesn’t play much, let’s see how he does when he gets back and hopefully he is on a better team
By year end

All true. I see he is 3rd on the team in scoring despite playing 18 less games. So maybe he is doing what he can. The rest of the team just sucks. I get he needs to do more, but it also sounds like he is playing 1v5 out there most nights.

He'll be in the NHL full-time starting next season. Flyers can't help themselves. He's got a few more months to take a big step in the OHL before it's officially time for sink or swim.

He looked completely out of his depth in those 4-games and it's not like he even really earned that look based on anything he did on the ice during camp, so it's pretty irrelevant for the purposes of comparison.

I think he will be able to play in the NHL before 5 years. I'm talking about what it's going to take for him to be a good NHL player. If not longer.

Exactly, he’s playing well above his teammates, all you can ask for right now. Hopefully he gets traded.

What’s better? He’s on a horrid team, has only played 16 games, is over a point per game and around half a goal per game. What should he be doing?

You're right. It's inaccurate to say all you can ask for is playing above his teammates. They're younger and are/or lesser talents. If he is the player the Flyers think he is. He should be a top player in the league.

As a D+ he is playing against kids younger than him. I get he is on a bad team but he needs to be better. Take into account the WJC and he is not standing out much. He is doing what he has done.... As Tomahawk said: As a D+ you hope he has a "monster" year regardless of what team he is on.

I like the kid a lot but I think folks need to temper their expectations. JD thinks the kid is going to be a 1C - I just don't see it. I think he will be a 2/3C (2C being his ceiling) and there is nothing wrong w that. The argument being made is right now I would prefer Zeev who is having another great year.

His season literally just started, and you need players to play with. To take this 16 games and pretend he’s drastically underachieving is completely false and foolish. He’s well outperforming his teammates, one guy can only do so much .

To add, he is the only player on his team who has been drafted. They stink. 2nd worst team in the whole OHL.
