Exactly how did that offside lead to the goal?

It’s the stupidest rule! it’s like in the NFL a defensive holding away from the play can negate third and 30 and turn it into a first down

PP is 1 for the last 28. This is what’s killing them more than anything because they have no other way to gain momentum in games. It’s deflating

If I can be a dyck for a second…it’s Drurys fault the PP sucks

The power play is not what’s killing them more than anything. It sucks but we can’t score at 5v5 either and now we straight up can’t play defense

I’ll try and be as diplomatic as possible here while still conveying the same sentiment I have been, because I think you’re a cool guy. He’s playing with an average effort level and confidence level for a period and it feels like he’s flying because normally his feet and brain are skating in mud

You are arguing with an idiot, dont bother. He knows nothing about hockey, he is just a fan

Unexpectedly ran into an old friend last night and had some drinks to catch up on old times and discuss state of the Rangers. He grew up in Canada playing hockey and after his career was cut short by injury, he worked at Hockey Night in Canada for several years. He has always been a very trusted and insightful person for hockey. He had a most interesting take that I wanted to share:

The belief that because of what happened involving Goodrow, Trouba and Kakko would influence players not wanting to come to NY ---- he calls BULLSH!T.
Rangers remain one of the crown jewel organizations in the league. Players for the most part, LOVE coming to MSG.
Goodrow, Trouba and Kakko all underperformed before they left. Players understand that if you want to remain with a team, any team, that you have to play your best for extended periods! When you don't play well, the consequence may be that you get forced out.

Additionally, players all across the league stood up and took notice of how the franchise treated Chytil last season. The fact that they voluntarily sent him home WITH PAY to recover and get better was noticed by agents and players alike. Many NHL teams would have NEVER done that and the fact that the Rangers did without fanfare goes a long way to keeping the franchise in high regard.

Some players will never come to NY simply because they don't like large cities and prefer rural and less densely populated areas. But he believes that a prospective UFA would in no way avoid NY simply because of recent history. Rangers remain a first class organization committed to winning ( even if they don't succeed ) and players will continue to want to come here.

He also believes Drury is here for the long haul and has the authority and green light from management to blow this team up if he wishes......

The problem with Kakko is he has one game where he looks like the 2OA guy, then 5 in a row where he looks like a middling NHLer. And it was always that way. Flashes of oh wow, then longer flashes of meh. I can’t remember a guy more inconsistent and frustrating than he was. For me anyway lol. It was enough

Berard ended up sealing his fate I think. One they called him up and stayed is when they traded him

He is gonna cost at least 8 million per year on the open market. I’m not blowing all the cap space on one player
