Oh please, the kid is a star, but he’s not going to win anything on his own. The team needs to be way deeper than it is, beyond Miller, Hughes, Petey & Demko, and to a lesser extent Boeser, it’s a yard sale of NHL plugs. That defence is tragic. - Pacificgem
Good F depth but Joshua & Hog are slacking. The D is tragic. |

You also have to be put in a position to succeed it can't be all on Hogs. After a 26 goal campaign last year he was primed to move up the lineup and play with better players. Sure a slow start didn't help but man even after injuries Tocchet still has him buried down the lineup and sometimes less than 7 mins TOI. I never said Hogs wasn't part of the problem but Tocchet has to take some responsibility for derailing his career somewhat. It's a give and take as well. The player will also become dis associated if constantly Tocchet doesn't use him properly. It's just sad we are probably going to lose another decent player to a trade that most likely could have been avoided by adding some minutes to his game and better line mates. My take anyways. Pettersson sucks this year and he's not buried on the 3rd and 4th lines? Food for thought. - LordHumungous
Hog played himself outta the top 6 all by himself & hasn’t been good let alone consistent to get back in. It’s all on him to not take stupid penalties in the bottom 6 that hurts a team. On his forecheck & decision making it has been weak. Tocchet can’t do anything about it & all on Hog to earn it back. |

2 things I can think of needing work is the PP zone entry & better executed dump ins. The former has been poor far too often. The latter needs better finesse so the forecheck is on top of the D sooner. That pressure will help save energy overall. The 3rd period we’ve looked slower & dominated.
Good teams close out games. |

They’ve been disjointed since the get-go. They had two lines that worked, one centered by Petey and one by Miller, they had one of the best third lines in the NHL with Garland Blueger Joshua. Everything is (frank)ed up this year. |

Do we need Schneider? I mean it’s a nice luxury but not sure they have enough minutes for Hronek, Willy & Schneider. They need a high end #3 LHD - CanuckDon
I mean, I was thinking more for the present. Since Willander has never played an NHL game yet, hard for me to pencil him in anywhere. |

I’m comfortable penciling him in at the end of the year. He is that good. So we have Willander, Myers and Hronek locked in on the right side |

They need both d positions badly, not to wait on prospects. |

Trading JTM or EP40 creates a hole and does not fill a problem. The options don’t move the needle for the Canucks.
Trading for a top 4D is costly in season with the few options out there. Canucks would have to give up prospects that are probably NHL ready on top of other assets.
There are two high end prospects that are NHL capable but will have some growing pains to fit into contending team status. The rest are further away and role players at best. |

So the master Canuck troll Eliot Friedman couldn’t resist weighing in on this JTM to Rangers rumor. Of course he made out as if the Canucks were rejected in the trade lol. See below from 32 thoughts:
“I also think it was actually a bigger deal, and one of the issues is that Vancouver adores Braden Schneider, who the Rangers do not want to trade. This would be the second time New York has rejected a Vancouver attempt for him.”
Sorry but it’s not what happened it’s what he thinks. Wonderful gives legitimacy to the likes of other troll nutters like BigBa/Arty etc about their trade thoughts.
In the end all this noise is only good for one thing for the players to shut it out and buckle down for rest of the season. It’s just the health issues now. Can they all get back and up to speed? That is what will really determine how competitive the team can be this time around.
I will add, Willander, inserted like a Mcavoy was coming out of same NCAA program, may help in a playoff run. Especially paired with QH shore up the right side. Allowing Hronek to strengthen the second pairing. Then the question is does Soucy and Forbort do it for the Left Side? This is where the accrual and TDL plan may allow Canucks add a D do bump Soucy down to 3rd pair with Myers. It doesn’t need to be a block buster trade just one that improves on Soucy. |

Athletic article today by Drance and the Rangers' writer, discussing a potential JT Miller trade... they don't think it's likely, but this is the offer Drance put out.
To Vancouver
C Filip Chytil
D Braden Schneider
F Brennan Othmann
2025 third-round pick* (higher of their two picks)
To New York
C J.T. Miller
F Nils Höglander
Would 100% make that trade.
However, someone mentioned in another article that RHD might not be Van's biggest need at the moment with Hronek and Willander in the top 4 next year. Maybe having a better LHD is of more value going forward?
This was the Rangers' writer's offer, which I think is trash.
Staple’s best offer
To Vancouver
F Alexis Lafrenière
C Mika Zibanejad
To New York
C J.T. Miller
F Conor Garland |
