York and Andrae haven't been overrated. If anything Andrae is underrated by the Flyers.
You just got done a day or so ago, telling people that they can't say that drafting Luchanko was a mistake because we know about these players for years down the road. Now here you are saying that Buium was the BPA and he is going to be a star. - MJL
do you think york has had a good year? has he progressed? |

I just told you, Risto and Laughton will be coveted by teams planning to make a deep run in the playoffs. The Flyers should be willing to trade them both and get a decent return this deadline. If they don't I think its time to seriously question Briere on what the hell we are doing here. - jd250
The only thing that changed is the player are older and in rr case healthier -- they had numerous players they could have traded last year and instead they extended them and wanted to extend sw as well
If the triumvirate came out today and said that the sky is orange and the sun is blue you would be in total agreement |

I'm not changing anything I said the other day. I think we will not know if the decision to draft Luchanko over Buium was a mistake or not for a few years. All I am doing is acknowledging Buium was a very good player and was the BPA at the time of the draft. It does not mean Luchanko as a bad pick and will not turn into a very good player also. |

Numerous players? Who are the players should have traded last year that other teams wanted? |

Jett is not really lighting up his D+ year on fire but the Flyers will rush the kid b/c they need Centers. He will be a solid 3C for the next decade though. - Flyfly
Jett is playing on a bad Guelph team. It would be great if Guelph traded him to a better team this year. Jett was also misused by Canada in the WJCs. He has much higher upside than 3C. |

Of course you are. You argued ridiculously against those saying that Buium is the better player. Now a day or so later, you're admitting that yourself. Acknowledging what you were arguing against. This was just a day or so ago. LOL

Yes, they are bad but he should be still putting up more points. He is in his D+ year so I really don't want to hear the excuses... If he was worthy of being drafted before Zeev then he better be more than a 3C which is where I see him in the NHL. Otherwise, it was a bad pick. |

The Flyers ruined him by keeping him like they did. If you look at the history of guys getting the 10 games and being sent back, most struggle when they return.
I am not saying he was the right pick over Zeev but I wouldn’t bury the kid as a 3C only going forward because the Flyers management incompetence hurt his production this year.

add Joel and Frost to an extent.
God forbid the pro active CO-GM trade a pick or prospect for a young NHL ready player. Hardest working GM in the game. |

they did not ruin hm by playing him 4 games. Come one. If they did then clearly, he wasn't goo enough to begin with.

I am not burying him whatsoever. I just see him as a good 200ft player with limited offense in the NHL. I really think he is going to be a 3C. If he hits his ceiling and becomes a 2C all the better. Still doesn't make it the right pick for the Flyers. They drafted for need which is ludicrous in the first round.
Its more about the Flyers brass and their logic than the player for me. I like Jett but I don't see him being anywhere near a 1C.

They ruined his production this year not his future. He was also on the roster longer than just 4 games, they just didn’t play him.
They should have kept him the entire year or sent him back once camp was over. |

Jett also didn’t turn 18 until August…he was almost not even eligible for this past draft because of age. People need to pump the brakes on his potential. He’s got some elements to his game that can’t be taught..but like any just turned 18 year old there’s a lot of room for improvement.
Personally I think he’s still a couple of years away..which is ok. |

Completely agree he is a few years away and I am totally fine with it. But what are the chances of him being rushed to the NHL b/c they need centers?

Yes and no. Unfortunately the majority of GMs in the NHL are like Briere; prettified to lose a deal and thus don’t make them. How many hockey trades actually occur each year? 1? The theory of trading from a surplus position for a weak position sounds great on message boards but doesn’t occur in real life. It’s like the management’s plan of signing high end free agents: it’s not going to happen.
Buium was the pick because the Flyers had a need at defense as well. Or don’t get caught with your pants down by San Jose because everyone knew the Flyers wanted Sam D^ckinson. |

That’s were a competent GM has to protect the Players future..is he good enough now or in September? Maybe….But that’s not very smart if your intent is to develop a future cornerstone of the franchise. Let him develop. |

Everyone knew he was the Flyers desired player. That’s the other worrying thing about this management group. They appear to be easy to manipulate. Jones may be friendly with the rest of the league but that’s a negative IMO not a positive. Look how they got rolled in the Drysdale deal and every free agent negotiation since. |
