I would think they would end up trading for a player, a first and a prospect, and possibly add to that. So yeah, Tippett/ Farabee, Bonk and the Flyers first could be the foundation to it. They might want Luchenko instead of Bonk.

I say Farabee or Tippett because they are really quite similar in their career production so far. While Tippett seems to be a 1 trick pony that scores more out of volume of shots than being a sniper, Farabee seems to do a bit of everything, even fighting, but nothing exceptionally well.

Farabee has 88 goal, and 196 points in 375 games, is 24, drafted 1st/14th 2018. Farabee makes $5 per for 3 more years.
Tippett has 84 goals, and 166 points in 311 games, is 25, drafted 1st/ 10th 2017. Tippett makes $6.2 per for 7 more years.

Vancouver would probably see more value in Farabee than in Tippett in my opinion.
Just saying.

I like Farabee but he has about 30 points in his last 70 games. One has to ask themselves if a team would trade a legit 26 year old 1C who has already had a 100 point season for either Farabee or Tippett as the top asset in a package deal. For some reason, some think you can get quality for quantity lacking quality.

I am not thinking of either as a top asset as I view neither of them as really anything more than middle 6 players on a true contending team.
I think the 1st rounder would be the main part of the deal, and as I said..it would be the foundation to a deal, not just them. I could see our first this year (protected), Luchenko, Farabee, plus either Andrae or York plus maybe another pick for Petterson.

I wouldn't do it myself, as I don't view Petterson as the right fit in Philly.

I do not see the Flyers landing a top level 1C without including Michkov or TK. To a lesser extent Sanheim. They just do not have the horses to land a stud player in trade.

If the Canucks are desperate to move him (I don't think they are) that probably lowers the return but not enough for the Flyers to acquire him.

I agree. I also question if it's the right move for the Flyers.

The Flyers have good value on the wing. TK and Michkov.

Then you have Farabee, Tippett and Foerster. If I were a GM I would be asking for Foerster. He will be the best player of the three.

depends on what teams want. they have picks and 3 prospects that other teams would probably want. now if they want instant help then probably not as not really many desirable players to move in that type of trade.

they would probably turn down a TK for macdavid.

joel is fading fast. he needs a new start. cant imagine his value is all that high so would be selling low. what do you do?

been beat to death tippet wasn't a smart signing. wonder what value he would have league wide? not like they would trade him.

So howcome when Farabee misses an open net, he is a shell of a hockey player, but nothing bad to say about Tippet? If he buried half his chances he would be worthy of his contract.
- TheFreak

I have been critical of Tippet for over a year. He misses the net way too much, and with his shot just getting it on net more frequently would get him 30 goals easy because of his quick release. I am not sure what work he is doing off the ice to improve, but if he is working extra on his shot accuracy versus just changing the color of the tape on his stick, it has not shown itself in the games which matter the most.

With Farabee, its a different story. He is not as fast as Tippet. Not as skilled. Not as strong on his skates. Doesn't have the shot and release Tippet has. He is an OK player with OK skill. A smart player and a middling forward, nothing more. This is what I have consistently said about Farabee. I am fine with the Flyers trading him or keeping him, since to me it will not matter one way or the other.

Farabee is equally as skilled as Tippett is. His hockey sense is far higher than Tippett is. Tippett can pretty much shoot the puck and skate. That's all he offers as a player. The Flyers should be open to trading either player in the right deal.

I agree, I don't think Pettersson is the right fit for the Flyers either. Hockey in the East is much more physical than hockey in the West, which is played with more speed. I don't think Pettersson is an East coast type of player.

According to the Hockey News the Flyers have three players from the start of this year in the top 100 prospects.

https://thehockeywriters....op-100-prospects-ranking/

82. Jett
47. Bonk
2. Michkov

Cutter was 14.

Jett and Bonk have some value but not as much as Flyers fans hope. Picks outside of the top 10 don't have a ton of value either. Other than TK and Sanheim you do not have any real impact players to offer for now.

Landing a Pettersson level player via trade does not seem likely for the Flyers. Unless of course the Canucks GM is a bozo. Which is always possible.

I agree Farabee has a higher hocky IQ, but he is not close to Tippet skillwise. I would be fine with the Flyers moving either player, though given the contract Tippet just signed, I'm not sure the Flyers wil get many bites on Tippet. Teams will want Farabee because he is a solid NHL 3rd line forward that can spell higher in the lineup, but again the Flyers would not get much back for him. Frost is another player that the Flyers will not get much for, but they probably will move him before the deadline because I don't see the Flyers extending him in the off season.

There is no difference between the east and the west. Hockey is hockey. Game is played the same. In the east you have offensive players such as Jack Hughes, Nikita Kucherov. Artemi Panarin, Mitch Marner and Martin Necas. None are known as physical players.

Of course he is. Both players have scored in the 20 goal, 50 point range. Tippett is not a highly skilled player that you think he is. He is a very limited player.

I don't know what to tell you if you think hockey is hockey .. clearly the game out west is different than the game in the East. IMO I am concerned with whether Pettersson would be as good in the East.

Flyers should get rid of Michkov then. He is a finesse offensive player who is not physical. I'm aware that you don't know what to tell me.

Yes, a players point production is indicative of a players skill level. How do you not know this? Both of your replies are empty rhetoric.
