Tennessee is better. Less extreme weather, fewer deadly animals, better prices and slightly better policies with less people.
Florida is fantastic though, been many times for many vacations. Definitely top 5 destinations for escapees. Know a lot of people who escaped Canada to Florida 4 years ago. Best decision they ever made. - Rare_Jewel
Then quit leeching off our system and get the (frank) out of our country, parasite. |

I had no idea that insurance would be so costly. It’s a no brainer that you would pay more but that’s just crazy. - shack67
It depends on the home value, flood zone (if any) and proximity to the waterfront.
Any flood zone, regardless of how far from the coast, is costly. And, you have very few options for insurers. Rates are skyrocketing. Five years ago it wasn't that bad, but the writing was on the wall.
Again, if you own outright and go without insurance, you can do that, but to get a mortgage you need the insurance.

I can't wait to hear how going a half million dollars into debt over a gall bladder procedure is somehow better than the Canadian system. Or waiting years to get it. Or getting misdiagnosed a half dozen times. But hey, freedumb, amirite? I'm sure it will all be great now. Can't wait for better healthcare, buck a gallon gas, dollar eggs, and tax breaks for crypto bros. I'm sure the child rapist will put his best people on it. - GalacticStone
serious question: what century do you think we live in?
well, that what my wife would say to me. |

In 1954, Hurricane Hazel hit Toronto, killing 81 people.
In the aftermath, the provincial government made it illegal to build on floodplains, as well as giving conservation authorities strong powers to run said floodplains.
Today, we have great parks and golf courses in our valleys, and people don’t die and lose their homes when floods occur.
This has been a Canadian History Moment. |

I get it.
But its still a minimum $10m over 5 years $16m over 8. Its a lot of money to give up. - Fakepartofme
To us it is. GM has to convince him on it's not.

All of Florida south of Orlando is basically a flood zone.
If I could afford to leave Florida and start over somewhere else, I would. I regret ever coming back here. It used to be OK-ish, but the cost of living is astronomical, the weather is poop, and the people are poop. Antarctica looks good.

i love my insurance 😍
totally free and pretty attentive. sometimes too attentive like i’m being stalked or harassed👍🏿
all in all very good 👍
the only thing is it’s the VA so for anything bigger than a colonoscopy or giving me drugs i wouldn’t let them touch me👍🏿
that’s why i have great insurance for serious stuff like joint replacements, back surgeries, gender reassignments etc 👍
what a (frank)ing joke 🤦🏿♂️
edit: nice alliteration 👍 |

Gourde is a solid option. I'd love to see him in Blue and White again. He won't set the world on fire, but he's exactly what you want in a 3C.

If any of you guys ever make it to this area when the local rivers are low, shoot me a DM and we'll have a Florida Man fossil-hunting adventure. I like taking newbies out to find fossils. If I was more generally social, I would make a business of being a fossil-guide (which is a thing down here), but I only like my hockey peeps or collector clients. I don't want total randos. I have all the boats and gear, you just need to bring yourself and be ready to paddle your ass off and get muddy.
PS - rivers are just a touch too high at the moment, but should be primetime in a couple of weeks if the rains stay away. |

I don't really get to Florida much, but I will definitely store this invitation in the back of my mind!
P.S. Now I'm hoping for a Leafs-Bolts playoff series! |

The Leafs beating Tampa is the only time I don't mind Tampa losing. It's a win win for me.
Although, it does feel a little like watching two people you love beat the poop out of each other.
