Ersson back in the net tonight. I certainly hope he stays healthy the rest of the season, but I am not optimistic. |

Projecting a few years down the road, of the guys on the Flyers now. Who does anyone believe is actually or will become a legit top 6F, a legit top 2D, and a legit starting G? My standard is asking myself the question of these players would be today or in the future able to play those roles on teams like LV, Florida, Colorado, NJ, Washington, Dallas etc.
My 2 cents:
Forwards: TK, Michkov and Foerester
Defense: none
Goalie: none
If I’m even close to being correct, how is this team going to improve on the ice? |

I’m sure Ersson is 100% and ready to go. Like other things, Flyers are the gold standard handling these things. Very confident it’s going to work out. Just get that next W, baby. |

Where does The Room fit into the timeline for competing? I’d hope The Room has a protege he is training and ready to take over The Room.
Perhaps The Room can be Lappy’s assistant when he is promoted? |

I would say that's pretty much ball park. I think Sanheim can be a partner to a legit # 1 defenseman on the first pairing. However both Sanheim and York individually on their own merit are likely 3 and 4 defenseman on a contending team.

Id easily put Saanheim, York and Bok as potential D.
Andrae and Drysdale I would put as potential darkhorses. All I want from Drysdale this season is to play long streches of games. He's played 29 games this season which is the 2nd most games played for him in one season. He has missed 12 games so far this season so hes on the right track. We will have a better idea of what Drysdale is in approx 3 years
Goaltending is harder to predict. Ersson was fantastic to start the season but since his 1st injury hes been pretty average if not worse. Kolosov is going through a bit of a rough patch and Fedotov has improved from unplayable to serviceable.

https://www.nytimes.com/a...nen-scott-laughton-trade/
To understand why the Flyers would prefer to keep Laughton is to understand their team-building philosophy: the culture they’re always speaking about needs to be grown from within. They don’t believe that simply adding respected veterans to a young dressing room is the correct way to do it.
I’d also point back to something Keith Jones told me in a recent Q&A. “If you’re just giving people away for the sake of giving them away, that is going to bother players,” Jones said. “That’s one of the advantages Danny has being a former player. He recognizes how things are internally accepted, or not accepted.”
I can pretty much guarantee that the other Flyers in the dressing room wouldn’t see the value in them unloading Laughton for, say, a pair of second-round picks, or even a late first-rounder. Unless he’s involved in a deal for that elusive top-line center they’re looking for, don’t expect Laughton to go anywhere.
Yea, nobody want to see Laughton leave for a 1st round pick .. lol. I think you are right, they have a job for him after his playing days are over as a life (culture) coach. |

flyers are def a forward-thinking organization.
Anyone who thinks these 3 stooges are going to turn this around is a straight up idiot.
lets see what their actions end up being.

No... most ex-player GMs just do what needs to be done, feelings in the room be damned. (Look at what his ex-linemate has done in NY lol)
Briere's just playing Mr. Nice Guy. Just like Fletch always did. No balls. |

Here is a very interesting observation. Through the second half of last season (games 42-82), the Flyers record was 17-19-5. This year through 41 games the Flyers record in 17-19-5. Identical half season records!
It tells me this is what this team is, a team that through 82 games would be 34-38-10. What was the big difference? Hart left the team soon after the midway point of last season. So for all those that disagreed with me when I said that Carter Hart was indeed the solution in nets for the Flyers and a franchise goalie, suck on that! |

need a ryjo update.
why is the league allowing this? can't wait to see how many other teams do this to circumvent the cap. - hello it's me 2050
Obviously because the player is a fraud and good for the league and Flyers for not backing down. |

The Flyers value all the wrong things. It's why they've been irrelevant for 15 years and counting. Player like Laughton have build what they have here. Too valuable to move.

I agree. I wouldn't even mind if the Flyers traded York in a deal instead of extending him. Still a long ways away from finding that 1D, unless they can someone get lucky in the draft like Colorado did. Just think if only Hextall had listened to his scouts and drafted Heiskanen. Oh well. |

That's absolutely hysterical. I guess you were right when you said that Hart was as good as Hellebuyck. We can add not knowing what a franchise goalie is to the list of things you don't know. You never cease to find ways to show that.

flyers not backing down. you really are a fn lap dog.
that fraud is getting paid full freight.
they league is backing down, otherwise this would have wen to an arbitrator already. if they and the flyers had such a good case why not resolve it? why pay him full salary? |

They can’t sell winning….they can’t sell progress….all that’s left is a “culture build” or a so called rebuild. |

Colorado didn't get lucky... they were by far the worst team in the league in 2017 (48 pts lol) and lost the lottery. They deserved to get Makar.

Yep league does not want a kerfuffle so they will let it play out this way. Player gets paid and team gets cap space. Win-Win situation.
