I wonder when/how Andrae and/or Grans gets another chance to prove themselves in the NHL. The team is in rebuild but not tank mode. Whatever that means. Yet, the top 6 seems set it stone and they are quickly dropping into the top 3.
I find this almost as odd as how the Flyers have managed the PP. Almost. Actually I should be thankful the PP has been awful, it is harder to mask the deficiencies on the team.
So Farabee sits tonight. A roster that is bad and all the players left with term left on their contracts seems bad. |

Ok, but lets look a little closer here. First, Frost is not even a top 6 NHL center. I'm sure since you are putting it on Luchanko to have a better improvement in the OHL in his D+1 year, you will also put it on Frost for not developing into a better NHL player. Denver Barkey had a nice jump playing for one of the best and most loaded teams in the OHL, and yet he may never amount to much as an NHL player given his size. So IMO these numbers mean nothing. Luchanko is going to be a top 6 center in the NHL. Look beyond these meaningless stats and mark it down! - jd250
Frost's development as an NHL has no bearing on Luchanko...unless you are saying Frost is a failure at the NHL, and Luchanko's number destine him to be an even worse NHL'er.
His numbers are subpar for a draft pick in his position playing with 16-18 year olds. Frost was better at this stage of their careers. |

What a fraud Quitter is. Wish they knew the truth? Well that is easy to fix Quitter. TELL US THE (frank)ING TRUTH! Tell us your sad story of how the Flyers disrespected you, lied to you, and forced you to make the very hard decision you really didn't want to make. FRAUD! - jd250
Yeah the guy would be better served keeping his mouth shut at this point. He made a decision to not say what happened, and we can and should all respect that. But then, suck it up, Butter Cup and stop whining about how you’re misunderstood. Just play hockey. You’re gonna get booed and razzed and will forever be hated in Philly. Grow up and just be a professional. |

That's what happens when the team bypasses a top pairing defenseman (a team need) for a player of Luchenko's skill set. Then rush him to the NHL for his 4 games...you expect more because of the hype the team has put behind him. He should be standing out as a top 15 pick, and he is just one of the pack. - TheFreak
You are assuming he is a top pair prospect. If he was, he wouldnt have dropped to the Flyers. Biuim will be a Ghost like player, not a Makar.

York is also still better and when Andrae was up, he was easily better. Andrae carried Ristolainen when he was up. The rest of the Flyers defense, not exactly a high bar. Ristolainen remains a mediocre 3rd pair defenseman. When Ristolainen is on the ice, the opposition scores 60% of the goals. Worst on the team tied with Zamula. His GA/60 is second worst on the team. With only Zamula worse. - MJL
I don’t think Yorks been very good….I don’t think Andrae played well in his last few games, but I still would not have sent him down. Zamula has been good the last little stretch here. Over all I think Risto has been good. I won’t mistake him for a Norris trophy finalist anytime soon, but overall the improvement may get the Flyers something back of quality….and I wasn’t thinking that was possible a year and a half ago. |

He's under no obligation to do so. I'd really prefer he just say he doesn't want to talk about it at all and not say anything. - MJL
I’m the same…I could care less what he has to say at this point. What’s it matter? He doesn’t matter any longer. |

Andrae will get the call if there is an injury or trade. Unfortunately it does not seem like the FLyuers are in any rush to make a deal. Pagnotta from thefourthperiod says he does not expect any big moves from PHI at the deadline. As we already know we dont have any UFA assests to move outside of EJ. Teams are sniffing around Risto and Laughton but it isnt a guaranee they move either unless the return is good.
I just hope theres some benefit to being down in the AHL for Andrae. If being down their can make him a better D than playing on this awful team, by all means keep him down there. Unless he just dominates, I think theres always something to gain from being sent down.

So I fully expect extensions for Cates and York. Certainly, an argument can be made to justify. However, if the plan is to keep the roster together that is not good, what is the point. Briere is such a great evaluator of prospects that when contracts expire, a younger better player is ready to go.
I like York and Cates. However, the Flyers have very few appreciating assets to move the rebuild along. Quite frankly, by their own doing on how they have handled the roster. The latest is the Farabee situation. He was available in the summer, did not move and now scratched. His value is so low right now. Frost should have been moved much earlier then now. His value stinks. Another trade deadline teams are calling about Laughton, but Philly does not seem interested. Yawn. I guess Lappy will make all these prospects being drafted and make them pros in LV. |

Exactly. If you dont like it, say your side. Personally I dont buy the signing angle. Gauthier said it himself it wasnt just one thing. He saw multiple red flags which Im curious to what those could possibly be. I think he made a personal choice. I do expect in 10 years we will hear something about Gauthier regretting how he handled things. Ive also read from multiple sources he wanted to go back and play in college. He wanted to win with the College team and it was a stacked team going into that year
All he had to do was talk with the team. Whatever issue there was could have been sorted out. We saw the Flyers and Kolosov come to an agreement. It isnt as if the Flyers are going to turn around and say frank you, its our way or the high way |

I dont mind keeping Cates, but if you do so Laughton has to be moved. It is clear the Flyers want Cates in a top 9 role

one guy if he hits his projected ceiling is a 2nd line center
one guy if he hits his ceiling is a #1 dman.
which one would you draft? aren't you also assuming in Jetts case? or does the assumption stop at Buium?
just for the hell of it, would you rather a have a ghost type dman or a Laughton type center? |

I would not be shocked to see Laughton signed to an extension over the summer. It will be lauded by the press as a continuing commitment to the "culture". When an organization keeps accumulating 4th line and 3rd pair Dmen because of "culture", you are screwed. Top players on contending teams set the "culture". |

Part of saying York hasn’t been very good is the fact I’ve seen him be much better…bad for York is different then bad for Drysdale. |

Jett is not going to be a Laughton like C. You say Biuim has a ceiling of a top pair. Just because you or anyone on this board thinks it, doesnt make it reality. It is clear many NHL GMs did not see his ceiling as a top pair D. NHL teams pay scouts to watch these players. Biuim was ranked 4th in the prospect rankings. The fact that he dropped to 12 should say something. Do you think it is likely 8 GMs are idiots? or that perhaps Biuim is not what he appears. Juniors is completely different from the NHL. Just because you dominate against kids doesnt mean you can dominate men.

any insight for tonight's Powerball numbers?
it was a simple question that required a simple answer. didn't need a paragraph response.
what league has more "kids"? Juniors or college? |

That's completely false and flawed thinking.
Top pair NHL defenseman who have gone in the draft around where Buium was taken or later include
Josh Morrissey
Shea Theodore
Adam Fox
Roman Josi
John Carlsson
Brandon Montour
Kris LeTang
Duncan Keith
Zdeno Chara
Nik Lidstrom
Brent Burns
There is a recent interview that David Carle, the coach of team USA had talking about Zev Buium and other things. If what he says about Buium is true. He is going to be a far better player than Gostisbehere. You have no basis for making that statement.

York has had a down season compared to last season but he still is significantly better than Ristolainen. I think if the Flyers are willing to retain salary and or take a bad contract back, there will be some interest. I'm not expecting much of a return. Maybe something like a 2nd at best or a decent prospect.
