That's completely false and flawed thinking.

Top pair NHL defenseman who have gone in the draft around where Buium was taken or later include

Josh Morrissey
Shea Theodore
Adam Fox
Roman Josi
John Carlsson
Brandon Montour
Kris LeTang
Duncan Keith
Zdeno Chara
Nik Lidstrom
Brent Burns

There is a recent interview that David Carle, the coach of team USA had talking about Zev Buium and other things. If what he says about Buium is true. He is going to be a far better player than Gostisbehere. You have no basis for making that statement.

Whoa! That list is mostly HOFers, like 6 SC winners ( a couple multiple winners) and the ones still playing are either wrapping up a fantastic career or in the middle of one.

Exactly. If you dont like it, say your side. Personally I dont buy the signing angle. Gauthier said it himself it wasnt just one thing. He saw multiple red flags which Im curious to what those could possibly be. I think he made a personal choice. I do expect in 10 years we will hear something about Gauthier regretting how he handled things. Ive also read from multiple sources he wanted to go back and play in college. He wanted to win with the College team and it was a stacked team going into that year

All he had to do was talk with the team. Whatever issue there was could have been sorted out. We saw the Flyers and Kolosov come to an agreement. It isnt as if the Flyers are going to turn around and say frank you, its our way or the high way

It's really simple to understand. In March of 2023, Gauthier was ready and wanted to sign with the Flyers. Then in May of 23, he said he no longer wanted to play here. So you're telling me in about a two month period, all of sudden he came to the decision because he found multiple issues he didn't like that made him change his mind? This is not hard to figure out.
All the Flyers had to do was sign him in March of 23. He'd be a Flyer today.

Interesting… sometimes one mentioned on here yesterday… Noah Powell went to the Oshawa Generals in the OHL from his division one school… they are one of the better teams in the O…hopefully he can replicate his USHL success from last year. He seemed a little lost so far this year for a guy used to scoring.

Jett is not going to be a Laughton like C. You say Biuim has a ceiling of a top pair. Just because you or anyone on this board thinks it, doesnt make it reality. It is clear many NHL GMs did not see his ceiling as a top pair D. NHL teams pay scouts to watch these players. Biuim was ranked 4th in the prospect rankings. The fact that he dropped to 12 should say something. Do you think it is likely 8 GMs are idiots? or that perhaps Biuim is not what he appears. Juniors is completely different from the NHL. Just because you dominate against kids doesnt mean you can dominate men.

Again, you're making false parallels. All a GM passing on Buium shows is that they liked another player better. It does not say that they didn't see his ceiling as a top pair D. It's not what anyone on this board thinks. It's what the professional hockey community thinks about him. Your thinking here is no logical. Listen to what David Carle has to say about him. It's not just offense with Buium. It's all around. The more I here and read about Buium. The more upset I get that the Flyers didn't take him.

Wonder what the back story is there with him leaving. Seems he didn’t give it much time.

Didn’t he also commit to another school then went to Ohio State?

That 5 yr 10 million extension for Laughton this summer is going to be special. His extension will have a comparable to William Carrier who signed with the Canes 6 yrs @ 12 million at age 29.

2M a year? He's not taking a pay cut. He's already making 3M a year. If they re-sign him. His salary will go up.

You should be his agent. He'll be 32 at the end of this current contract. I would not doubt the Flyers have the same view as you and offer more per year. We have already seen it with the TK and Tippett extensions.

They've all but told him that unless they're blown away with an offer, they're not going to trade him. He's that important to their team. Anyone think he is taking a pay cut? Talk about creating leverage for a player.

Yes I believe he will take a slight cut in return for term. Plus the usual no trade clause.

So Farabee out, can’t argue, he has been ice cold but still rather have his skillset than Ryan p, he had Tk vas Dallas all alone and threw a wobbler, describes his game, 4th line only.

You are assuming he is a top pair prospect. If he was, he wouldnt have dropped to the Flyers. Biuim will be a Ghost like player, not a Makar.
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

That is not true and has been covered on this forum multiple times by MJL.It was a bad pick by the Flyers. Not that Luchenko is a bad player or won't become a 3rd line center, it was the wrong choice with what else was still on the board.

Everything he has done so far indicates he will be a top pairing dman.

Listen to the recent interview David Carle gave talking about Buium. It will make you sick that the Flyers didn't take him.

York has been great a breaking up and/or disrupting plays. Sure he could have more offensive but that's not his main focus right now

If the organization really, really likes Hagans there is only way to get him. They won't be able to trade up and get him. Better embrace the suck this team is offering and lean into it. If they have to retain salary to move Risto, so be it. If multiple players are not moved at the deadline, then they really are not serious about taking every opportunity to acquire potential elite talent. Not going after Askarov harder because of Fedotov/Kolosov in the organization is looking dicey. Sorry, Hilferty since the organization is not tanking on a rebuild, expect major criticism when potential elite talent becomes available and you don't get the job done.
