You have to move Laughton. You simply do not have "The Room" for him. Pun intended

Realistically Cates or Luchenko are our #3C next season, maybe even Frost or Coots could be 3C if a C is added. Poehling and Hathaway are already slotted in for the 4th line. That means you either keep Laughton as 4th line player at 3 mill and block Lycksell who seems ready or move Laughton

ollie will be 26. he does not factor into any future plans. def not any for a 4th line role

I can’t give you specific names but, I will tell you there will be players of the ilk of Farabee, Lawton, and York. Reading some posts on here, pretty much daily, there are people who think there needs to be a filet mignon for each position in the lineup. It just doesn’t happen that way. Every winning team has role players, players that specialize in only certain things, for example kill penalties, win faceoffs, shadow top scorers. If a third line guy nets 15 to 20 goals, he doesn’t stink, that’s his job. Our problem right now is, we don’t have the horses at the top to do their specific job, carry the role players and fill the net. Just saying, seems expectations for 1 thru 20 seem a bit high.

How many forwards in the league scored 20 or more goals last season? That would give some insight to support your position.

We can all see that the Flyers were better when he was on the team. I was more confident in the Flyers when he was available last season compared to what they have this season.

I agree. You know what Hart gave you? A legitimate chance to win each night he played. Yeah, he wasn’t Ken Dryden, gave up a leaky goal here and there, but the Flyers were better with him than without.

Sure, they were a bit better with him as a team. Doesn't make him a franchise goalie. Really though, they're better off without him. Potentially better draft choice and saved the Flyers from themselves as they undoubtedly would've signed an average goalie to a long term extension.

I understand that the Flyers really need top line centers but I think the Flyers made a huge mistake not taking the defenseman Zeev Buium. The kid dazzled in the WJC's.
- Pixote Andolini

Does anyone really think the Flyers drafted a first line center? If they can draft one this year, it will be their first. I'd love to hear from someone besides Larry, Moe, and Curly/Shemp who thinks otherwise.

I think the one consideration with Hart is that he was pumped up as the savior in goal for Philly. He is a "good" goalie but he was not elite. Career .906 save percentage is good - not great by any means. He was also susceptible to giving up the leaky goal from time to time. Losing Hart def hurt the team but I never considered him to be elite whatsoever. I shutter to think of the contract he would have signed at the time. At this point it really doesn't matter since he likely will never play in the NHL again.

You have to factor in the loss of Walker and Seeler as well. That was their best pairing last year. I also think the 11/7 format really caught up to them. Especially when you factor in that most of those games ending up 9 or 10 forwards after the bench was shortened. To me Hart's departure was third at best for reasons why they faltered down the stretch.

I don't. I think Jett is a max 2C ceiling and more likely a 3C that plays a 200 foot game and is responsible defensively. Hope to be wrong but not sure his offense is going to translate to the NHL.

I like the player but hated/hate the pick. Zeev should have been the pick - full stop.

I think that is just how they are accounting for the cap hit being removed.

I would stop using that site. Johansen's contract has been terminated. He is not on the roster and is not getting paid. Ellis is also not on LTIR, he is on regular IR

The cap hit of a player on LTIR is not removed. A player on LTIR counts against the cap
the same as any other player on the roster does.

Honestly I had no idea, went and looked it up. 2023-24 season, for 15 thru 20 goal scorers there were I believe 66, of which 5 were defenseman. So 61 would be the number. Not sure were you’re going but I’m listening.

Last season there were 135 forwards who scored 20 or more goals. Out of over 900 players who played in the league. 32 teams in the league, is an average 4.2 per team. So to support your point, a 20 goal scorer definitely doesn't stink

I am aware. I was commenting on why Capwages may have listed RyJo as LTIR. They do not have a terminated contract section as far as I can tell.

His contract has been terminated, He is not on LTIR. He is not being paid so there is no reason to list him anywhere.

Got it. Again, was just trying to explain why he might be listed where he was on that site to another poster.

Put a hold on what, the termination? That is complete and done. His contract is terminated and he isn't getting paid. They can appeal it and come to an agreement or go to an arbitrator but until then, it's terminated

So? What does being 26 have to do with anything. Poehling is 25. Doesnt matter. A 4th line player is a 4th line player. Lyksell has played on the team and has fit. Lyksell is a cheap league min player that is a better fit on the 4th line than Laughton. Theres no benefit to having a younger player on the 4th line. At 26 years old he could be a good 4th line guy on the Flyers for at least 5 years. All his age says is that hes not going to be any better than a 4th liner
