The tail of two centers:

Morgan Frost: 37games, 7g, 11A 18pts, -11, TOI/GP 14:44
Noah Cates: 37games, 7g, 10A, 17pts, +8, TOI/GP 13:51

Time to move on from Frost. He has to be moved at the deadline.

Perhaps convert Drysdale into a winger and bring back Andrae who IMO has shown way better natural instincts on the ice from both the offensive and defensive side of the puck.
- Pixote Andolini

Ya know, that might not be a horrible idea. That’s some bold idea that this front office should consider, but this front office doesn’t know the word “bold.”

I don't. I think Jett is a max 2C ceiling and more likely a 3C that plays a 200 foot game and is responsible defensively. Hope to be wrong but not sure his offense is going to translate to the NHL.

I like the player but hated/hate the pick. Zeev should have been the pick - full stop.

I understand right now based on the numbers and our eys at the WJCs, Briere looks bad for passing on Buium, who like Michkov, fell right into his lap. All I can say is its really too early to tell. I have little doubt Buium is going to be a very good NHL player and has the potential to be a top pairing defenseman. Whether he gets there in the NHL is still undetermined. Likewise, Luchanko was 17 years old when he got drafted, and he came into his first Flyers camp and won Torts over which is not an easy thing to do. In fact, Luchanko blew Tort's famous rope test out of the water which most experienced NHL players could not do. As much as I love Michkov, he struggled to even finish the rope test, and you can see right now he is not in shape to manage an NHL season. Luchanko has a good chance to develop into a very good top 6 center. Look at how much Cates has developed in the past 2 years. Coming into this season it looked like was a 4th line winger. Now he looks to be at a minimum a really good 3C. So I think we need to be patient here and see how Luchanko develops.

Same with Tippet. We see he has 11 goals in 41 games and say he's not worth the contract. But he can get hot and put up 15-20 goals in the final 41 games, and all of sudden you got a 30 goal scorer and a player that is worth his contract. So you just never know.

The pregame interview w Pres. Hillferty was something. Anyone have any thoughts?

Layup questions of course

I see Drysdale making strides. First and foremost he has to be able to stay on the ice. In the first half of this season he played 29 out of 41 games. That is just not enough. He needs to stay on the ice the rest of the way here in order to develop. Risto will be traded by the deadline and we will see Andrae back up here. In the meantime, Andrae is playing 25 minutes a night in LHV and playing both PK and PP. Nothing wrong with that.

Can they trade both? In Cates case, it would be nice to trade a youngish player who is playing well to try and upgrade. As opposed to putting Farabee on the trade market and hope a buyer will just disregard his production has cratered. Not interested in extending another forward who maxs out as a 3rd line forward.

What would you expect him to say? He is repeating the talking points, i.e. we are trying to build this thing right and fans just need to be patient. This is what we have been asking for, versus trying to buy their way to a deep playoff run, one and done. So what's the complaint?

I wouldn't be opposed to trading Cates if he was part of a package to get back a 1C, but otherwise I like Cates and think he can be part of the solution here.

Full respect here. I get what you’re saying but when you are in a position to draft Zeev you do it without question. I like Jett but he is never gonna be a 1C. If he becomes a 2C it will be an asset to the Flyers. He is a future 3C IMO. Albeit, He is young enough to get a heck of a lot better but when you are in the position that the Flyers are - you take the BPA.

The fact they used Andre and Drys as their cover to me is just a joke. Not saying Jett won’t be a good player bc he will. But they made a terrible decision w the pick.

As Tomahawk said. Like the player but hate the pick.

They are going to buy their way in UFA. It’s that simple. That is the plan.

IMO, Couts contract is unmovable for several years. I think he can be an effective 3rd line center. Poehling does not have the value of Cates. I would prefer to move both Frost and Cates and get in return a young unproven center- example Brad Lambert.

Friendly bet. I’ll Venmo you $20 when he becomes an average 1C in the NHL. Not bc they Flyers forced him into the position mind you.

When was the last win versus a playoff team?
- THE EVIL WITHIN

I asked ex-hockeybuzz Billy MeltZ. He couldn't pinpoint it. Sometime in the year 2024 🫡

That would be the best $20 you ever spent due to the circumstances.

He doesn't have to be moved at the deadline. I hope for his sake though he is moved.

Here is another comparison. Frost, who you don't like and constantly criticize versus Tippett, who you love and is signed to an 8 year contract.

Owen Tippett 41 GP 11 G 13 A 24 Pts .54 P/GP
Morgan Frost 37 GP 7G 11A 18P .49 P/GP

You think Ersson should not have reacted to the cross ice pass better?

Yes, but I know by the end of the year Tippet will have 25+ goals, and Frost will be no where close.
