Yea not a terrible idea. He had a few shots on net vs Vegas and that one toe drag move that was a pretty good chance. He hasn’t played all year in either league so he probably deserves a good chunk of time up here - Slimtj100
I disagree. I wouldn't touch the top 6 right now. This is why Chytil is skating with Kreider at practice as we speak and the effective PP1 during this little run is also untouched with CK on the 2nd PP. Laviolette is 2 for 2 in my (meaningless and universally unread) book |

He hasn't played hockey in how long? - Blueshirts4ever
I’d think it would be leadership driven if they got him, and insurance for Chytil. It’s not the worst idea imo I just think he’d find somewhere else more appealing. |

It is Stan Fischler though so I wouldn't put any merit into any of it. |

I would say rangers could probably give him the most money, with Trouba gone
I didn’t realize it was Stan’s article lol |

Yea for sure. I remember getting so excited to see Stan’s Gossip back in the old days thinking everything he said would happen. Meanwhile was just the Eklund of the 80s lol |

I'm 100% on board for Toews at 1mil plus bonuses for the rest of the year. As mentioned, it's basically for leadership and get him to show the team what it means to win it all, multiple times! |

#NYR head coach Peter Laviolette said he thought Brett Berard's first NHL stint went really well, noting the process that a young player goes through while working their way up.
"I think it's all a learning process, it's all part of the development of a young player. From what we were just talking about with the uncertainty of how your roster moves sometimes day-to-day with regard to injuries, sometimes there's openings and sometimes there's not. I think talking about young players, you always want to be mindful of their development, to keep them developing, to keep them in the mix so that they're playing and they continue to develop. So he's gone back down after a good, solid stint with us to continue to develop."
Oh so now it was a stint? That was never made clear as far as I recall. They said they swapped Groulx for Berard to get another center up here but that wasn't the case.
Look. I get the concept of sending a younger player down for development purposes. I don't think Berard has much left to learn down there and this better not turn into one of these alienating processes the org has put a select few younger players through. Berard's high energy, high effort play style is exactly what we've needed and now Rempe is in the lineup instead? Talk about someone who needs all the time in the world to get seasoning in the minors. |

Why is it that you feel Drury owes you explanations?
We have no idea what these guys do outside of the 3 hours they are on our screens for a game. How can you get so upset about a decision that was made based on information you do not have? |

I’m bothered by the information I do have… I think I’m pretty clear here about the fact that I think Berard deserves to play over, at minimum, rempe and that Lavi’s explanation the other day doesn’t align with what he said today. We’re better with Berard in the lineup.
Ultimately, the coachspeak bothers me less than the end result. I just don’t like when people get to say conflicting things without being asked to explain, but that’s my problem not yours |

Just here for all the people tripping over themselves to defend Drury and talk about how we never saw this Kakko, etc.
Kakko will be a 50-60 point guy next year who's very solid defensively. The return we got for him wasn't worth moving him. Anyone who knows hockey could see the steps he was making in his game and where he's headed its not hard to tell.
Rangers have a huge development issue, one of the worst over the past 25 years. If it wasn't for Benoit Allaire we'd have drafted 1st more times than the Oilers. |

This is more about finding out what they actually have in Kaliyev than in punishing Berard! You're getting WAAAY too hung up over a guy that plays just over 11 mins a game and is a -9.

Rick gets hung up on a lot of things lol
Rangers get killed for not developing guys (Kakko), and trying to develop guys (Kaliyev/berard) when they only have really 2 spots to develop them in if you think about it (in the top 9). Because all the other spots are accounted for. And oh yea they get killed for moving from players to develop other players more for the spots they can’t give to players
Round and round we gooooooooo We need to learn patience |

Are you saying we’re not better defensively now with Borgen playing? And to be real, better off. Because they are playing better and more balanced back there |

This is as much about developing Berard as it is about playing the best players to me and I think Berard and the team both benefit the most from him in the big leagues. I don't know if I'd say I'm hung up on it, like it's not the end of the world. But I definitely don't have as much faith in the org to do the best thing for our young players as i once did. |

Fair enough.
I've liked what Berard has brought in his game, but he hasn't been so indispensable that it should stand in the way of someone else who is showing growth getting a look with the big club, or more critical at the moment, seeing what Kaliyev is going to be for us. Let Rempe show whether he's learned anything. Let Groulx have a shot. Get some other top Wolfpack player a chance. As long as they are consistent in their intent and their standards, I have no problem with seeing what we have. |

I think it’s matter of ok we realize Berard can hang in the NHL and this will maybe make him hungrier to get back, and in the meantime try and develop someone else because imo they want more youth entering the lineup next season. Kaliyev may be a diamond in the rough but how will they know if they don’t play him? LA didn’t play him nearly enough people have said
As far as Rempe over him…They need Rempe. They need him to play clean. They need him because what are we? soft and unintimidating to play against. For some reason the fans have turned on him which is weird. I get it he’s had some dirty moments, but he does bring something we haven’t ever had imo. That’s why he gets chances every so often. His line got the GW in Vegas so he already made a difference |

It’s like they traded Berard lol it’s just a normal transaction to send down players who are eligible. Kaliyev isn’t eligible I don’t believe, without losing him on waivers like LA did
I’d bet the house Berard is on the opening night roster next year and org has planned on him being a regular for a bunch of years. |

Bedard and Rempe are 2 completely different players. I like Bedard and think he will be a regular eventually; but with that said the Rangers play with WAY more confidence with Rempe in the lineup. It’s just a fact, like it or not. Comparing the 2 doesn’t even make sense. If u wanted to say Bedard over Vesey? I agree, but Bedard and Rempe play 2 completely different roles. Bedard is a better Vesey, not a better Rempe. |

And I bet no one is more frustrated with Rempe then Lavy and Drury when he gets suspended because they realize how important he is in the grand scheme of things and this why he will keep playing
I noticed the other night on one D check he let up some which may be what he has to do, and doesn’t need to send anyone through the glass and on his way to Pluto to be effective. So maybe he’s learning at least. To be fair he is still a kid, but may not look like one, where it wil take time to hone his way of playing.

Rempe is the exact type of player I want on the 4th line. He’s what I’ve been advocating for for years. With that being said, the dirty hits need to stop and he obviously still has a ton of work to do on his skating. But the Rempe affect when he’s out there with both his own teammates and the opposing team is real. |
