On ‘the something is off with this team’ I’ll take a stab at that.

Identity & continuity is missing. Early season at home none of it to speak of. On the road looked like plenty of it that could not translate back at home. The signs were obvious. Relied on stellar goaltending that they could rally around & survive. Injuries & distractions amplified the dysfunctional nature of this group & there are no signs it will simply just go away. There just isn’t the right mix of leadership to help Hughes.

2-3 players to start need a new address this group was a 1 hit wonder.

Tough one. Good thing we have more skill and scoring this year compared to last years roster lol.

Scoring is there everything other than the PK isn’t. Stems from there if not setting up shooters. Breakouts screw it all up.

Biggest factor IMO. Management not bringing back Cole and/or Zadorov, or at least not identifying the right players to replace them with, was a huge factor. Read this about Cole this morning:

Tanev shoulda been a priority. No baggage great on D & PK & can skate & make a breakout pass. Desharnais a waste of space for PK only. Soucy has sucked but is 3rd pair not 2nd. Myers PK all day not 2nd pairing puck mover. There is where top 4 LHD comes in. Forbort when not brittle is depth.

If Colorado doesn’t think they can re-sign Rantanen, would they exchange him with Petey who is already under contract. The Avs don’t want to pay him more than McKinnon.
