You can have 1 dman Fox’s size, but we have Lindgren also (small) Uro 6’2 205 not physical. Even our “big” dmen Miller Schneider Borgen only weigh 210 214 204. We have a VERY small, not physical defense
- nyrangers9479

It’s physical in that you can’t be pushed around near your own net. That’s where his size is the issue. No d man needs to hit like trouba all game long to be effective, but need to be able to clear your goalies crease. That why that pair doesn’t work anymore. Getting hit by Fox is like getting hit by a fly lol

Fox is probably a second pair guy getting too many minutes for him to survive a full season now where he isn’t completely toast by the playoffs is kind of what I mean. Like 18-20 minutes a night would do him wonders physically, but they simply can’t do that right now.

I would’ve loved to see a left side of Stanley Zadorov and Xhekaj.

They really need Fortesque to be good. Idk where that stands right now. Emery too.
Mancini will probably get a gig next year, at least be the 7th D. He is a big fella

Fox is a 1st pair dman. Are Hughes and Makar clearing the crease? They do different things elite defensively. That will never be their strong suit.

Zubov never cleared the crease either. Leetch wasn’t known for it. But they did a lot of elite things defensively. Just get real 1lhd next season

Cuylle in his 13 games without Kakko, 0 goals 1 assist. Drury is an absolute imbecile for making that Kakko trade and breaking up our most consistent line of the season.

Bad trade but kakko wanted out also. It was getting ugly. That 3rd line should’ve been their 1st line

I think when people think of a “top pair” dman, they think of the players that can shut down the opposing top line. Bc Fox gets PP time also and time killing penalties (which I agree with TJ should be stopped) he shouldn’t be our “top pair” guy. We need to find 2 big reliable physical dmen and have them play 22-24 minutes a night and let Fox get his 15 minutes 5v5 and then his PP time.

A lot of guys want out of this organization. He did nothing to deserve being scratched.

Just take Fox off the PK. He can still play big minutes 5v5 with the right partner. Miller is big and he can’t clear the crease or do any of that. It’s about the right mix in partners.

McD and fox would’ve been a great pair

He wanted out before that scratch. The scratch was the icing on the cake

We can't keep looking at each instance of this alienation of certain young players in a vacuum each time it happens. There's a bit of a pattern here from the org.

Chemistry is more important than people think. And besides trading one of his linemates, they put him with possibly the worst 5v5 player on the team, Zib

I’m just saying it’s ok to call out the player for under performing. He has 4 points in 21 games since December 1st. It’s not Drury’s fault cause he made a trade

That's absolutely fine and correct to do but it's also correct to identify that there's at least some ripple effect on young players like Cuylle as a result of how other young players (Kakko, Jones, etc) are treated even when they do everything they are supposed to.

On that note, Nemec is super pissed at NJD for how he's been shuffled between the NHL and AHL for 3 years. There's basically a 0% chance they'd trade him to us but 31 teams should be interested in this.

I’m just glad it looks like Jones isn’t a part of the future here. Another undersized dman is the last thing we need

Never happening 😔 the Kakko pt by pt bulletin board is here every night, get ready lol

If Borgen and Miller turn into a pair they can rely on it will be a good deal. But some will never get over we traded a 2OA pick who was never going to play like a 2OA pick

Bottom line is we have a better defense corp team today then we did before, with Borgen

This 3rd rd pick we got in the deal will be a HoFer

Genuine question. What was your reaction to the Buch trade on here?

You’re not gonna like it lol

My thoughts were he was traded, ironically, to make room for Kravtsov to run with that spot. And it didn’t happen. And eventually Kakko to run with that spot and it didn’t happen. Also, if you remember they needed a center and if they kept Buch I’m not sure they could’ve afforded Trocheck. Who was a much more pressing need then

I also think Blais would’ve been good in his role if he didn’t blow his knee out. It was just bad trade but I don’t think it’s as easy as saying Drury is stupid if that makes sense. There were reasons for it, it just didn’t work out

I like Drury all GMs have warts on their resumes, we just never stop talking about his for gods sake
