Far too many midgets, the other teams are usually quite a bit larger than this tiny and soft forward group

Size with some talent helps

- Reubenkincade

That's the least of their issues, other than Garland and Hoglander they're really not that small. They're average and the separation is minimal. Do you know who the tallest team in the league is? See below, three of those teams aren't very good.

1. Vegas Golden Knights 6'2" / 189.04 cm
2. Boston Bruins 6'2" / 188.29 cm
3. New York Rangers 6'2" / 187.91 cm
4. Washington Capitals 6'2" / 187.79 cm
5. Chicago Blackhawks 6'2" / 187.76 cm

Do you know who the heaviest team in the league is? Anaheim. Do you know who the lightest team in the league is? Winnipeg.

The most important things for success are culture, skill, systems and goaltending. Size helps in the playoffs, no question, Vegas is first in height and fifth in weight. It matters for sure. But they also have a lot of the other stuff too, goaltending, skill, systems and culture.

After seeing what Perry did to QH yesterday with zero pushback, they might as well pack it in now.

Remember all the hot air in here because the Canucks former captain wouldnt fight to protect the players? Hughes fights even less... like never. The only thing that changed was the narrative.

The narrative came from an Oilers troll with a tiny penis, so it must be taken in context.

It's regretful they will trade the only guy with any balls on the team...

100% warts & all it’s too bad it came to this. Going to lose a power C warrior over what shoulda stayed in the room. Once the media got wind of it the fans picked sides or turned on Miller.

If anyone thinks trading one player for some massive return is going to solve things, you're wild. They aren't getting a good return. The roster is so flawed at a number of positions. Gonna have to break this thing down and build up again.

- VanHockeyGuy

Horrible D corp make up
Sub par Demko
Lack of playmakers
Mediocre PP
Need more speed

Even with all of that still right there sniffing at the PO’s. With the trading distractions going on the room has to overcome & come together. Simple as that. Clear the slate play for the fans.

At this point the only untouchables is Quinn and Tom Willander. If PA isn't listening on everyone else then I gave him far to much credit.

Have to add Hronek purely on RHD are at a premium & build from the net out along with 2 TOP 2C’s. Dust settles we will be filling in those pieces.

Keeping Hughes is a massive mistake. At the latest, he has to be moved next deadline for a haul. No way he is signing up for a another rebuild
- CanuckDon

That’ll hit the crux point if the retool/reset PA faces cannot be done sooner than later. It’s definitely a possibility to consider that would send fans over the edge if it came down to that.

The last game I attended and cared to watch was the Canucks versus Edmonton game last Saturday. The arena was filled with Edmonton fans who all conveniently reside in our beautiful city of Vancouver. What was most evident was that every Oilers fan had some teeth missing and were wearing bejeweled jeans, DC shoes, and a Tapout shirt, blaming the refs and Trudeau for the Oilers’ loss that night.

Stay classy my friend!

Hughes also looks checked out. He has been dreadful the last two
- CanuckDon

I don’t agree but it’s weighing more & more heavily on him. Idk why there is such a complete lack of motivation to play for their captain at least. The fans are always the ones to suffer most paying to see the gaf meter turned off.

I’m not criticizing Hughes. His play has slipped and I don’t blame him. His teammates are a bunch of clowns

The guy was coach of the year last year: not sure how anyone can pin this joke on him. The players are gutless
- CanuckDon

RT brought in a system & Foote & Gonchar. It all worked fine & can still work. It’s on the group with key players who bought in & now some just being totally unprofessional & mentally fragile. Character comes into question.

You are gutless as well. The lack of physical reaction to Hughes getting head shots very game is sickening. Our gutless media needs to ask Allvin about this
- CanuckDon

Very true but also refs allow later hits to be high or at the knees on extensions not exactly body checks to finish their checks. Hughes is very allusive & doesn’t get the calls often enough. One day he could go down with a concussion or knee injury. No fan of the NHL making special rules for stars but they can clean up role players pushing the envelope & not always if an injury results. The game has gotten to be so fast that is has allowed some dubious intent on hits to slide.

It's starting to feel like all the hooplah around hard-nosed Tocchet coming in has worn thin. Someone said last year his schtick wears out fast, and I never would've believed it last year cause of the such radical change from the team past 2 years. Perhaps the focus and attention to detail is just not sustainable though, at least from this group. No doubt there is talent here, but I'm seeing a pattern where a coach can extract the most from the group for a short period of time (bubble Green, Boudreau, now Tocchet?) but the core is just not tight enough to sustain and build upon good things.

I will say that Alvin really did Tocchs a disservice by ignoring the blueline in the off-season. There was just no way that blueline healthy or not could move the puck up the ice the way you need to in the NHL. Forwards are on their heels and just waiting to turn back instead of driving forward with confidence.

Not always, but for a lot of it, yeah. You know back in 2011 those guys pushed each other hard but they cared about each other, it meant something to them to put that jersey on. That's not there anymore. Tocchet talked about it but you can't manufacture emotion, as I said earlier. You gotta care, it's gotta mean something to you to go to battle with your brothers....they don't have that!!

I think they all have to have that drive and mindset somewhere within their DNA just to make it to the NHL.

I don't believe there is ever a way to get fair value for a player of Hughes' value. Reloading with him and Petey still on the team just makes so much more sense.

Find a way to trade Miller for Nemec, offload Boeser at the TDL for picks or players doesn't matter. Take a swing on a big name UFA or 2 and then trade what you got for Boeser + other assets to get a replacement 2C. The goaltending depth is fine if you resign Lankinen.

You forgot total buy in playing for the crest tops any list. Many examples of teams with lesser talent that play a team game then they add to the group to contend. Culture starts with heart that isn’t coached & taught it has to be there to start with.
