They have a lot of upcoming middling talent. One would think it would look a lot better after missing the playoffs the last 4 years.

Well, CAR upping in the ante in the East. Flyers have a bunch of role players that should be available. I have no idea what path Briere is trying to navigate.

I hear you. Everyone not named Michkov should be available. I never root for the flyers to lose but at this point, I hope they are out of contention by the TDL. If we are sniffing the playoffs, it's highly unlikely that we unload any of our role players. I do want them to play somewhat well the next few weeks in hopes that it will increase the return if we are somehow able to unload a few players.

Canes had a projected 23 million in cap space before the trade. Blue line is old. I thought Rantanen turned down over 12 million/yr from COL.

The question is say we add a #1C. Where do they rank? They likely need more to be a contender. With a 26 year old Petterssen if you can turn this team around fast maybe it works but you pretty much have a 7-8 year window to win starting immediately. I don think Pettersson alone is enough. So every year it takes to build this team wastes Petterssons prime and shortens your window.

Cozens or Shane Wright to me make more sense for us at least. SEA and BUF probably arent moving them. Someone closer to Michkovs age would be ideal

Does Briere not touch the goaltending heading into next season. Bjarnssen is going to be at least a 1A at LV. Not going to tank by not trading forwards or dmen on the roster, but allow crap goaltending another season. I don't see this setup next season.
