They now have 5 RHD and 5 LHD with George gone (officially, now). Perunovich can play the right side as a LHD also, so it really feels like a RHD could be heading out the door given the fact Reilly could be back at some point to reclaim his 3rd pair LHD spot. Once 6/8 are healthy the right side of the defense looks like:

Dobson
Pulock
Mayfield
Deangelo
Perunovich (maybe)
Boqvist

Which is a major log-jam

I think Pulock is a goner

Including George there are 11 defensemen on the roster/IR. Him being sent down makes 10. If they dumped Cholowski (or sent him down) that'd be 9. But probably two guys would have to go when Pulock/Dobson are healthy to get back down to the normal number of 7. It just feels like something is going to happen on the blueline, whether major or minor I have no idea.

I like George too, but he's the only waiver-exempt one of the bunch so he was probably always going to be the first casualty.

I totally understand him going down is the easiest but I don’t want him being dealt.
If he stays down there he’ll get tons of ice time which might not be bad for his development/confidence.

He might be. Never lived up to the offensive hype his 105 mph shot brought with him.
Good dman and if he’s part of a deal for Petersson I’m all in.

With full NTC protection I'd be pretty surprised

Getting Boquist leads me to believe that Pulock and Dobber are not close to returning, otherwise they would just roll with Puronivich temporarily. Now they have three R handed shots in the rotation with Boquist, Mayfield and DeAngelo. Maybe?

give lou his credit, he's garthing his roster with surprisingly quality guys who are available for nothing

i know it doesn't mean jack poop, but boqvist almost always develops into a top defenseman in the video games

Makes the Engvall and Mayfield signings that much worse. There's similar value to be had for free out there. Maybe not as good, but not anchored to the roster long-term.

I don't have the kind of hope for Boqvist that I do for Perunovich, but I'm pretty much always willing to give a free asset a chance to show what they can do. It's worked out in the past (and also hasn't) so I hope the kid shines.

These are the type of moves a team like the Islanders should be making. Cannot lock up players like Mayfield and Pierre.

Panthers have a good deep d group.
Reilly came from there and he was a nice surprise. Hopefully Bouqvist is as well.
A lot of competition on the back line and that’s a good thing!

Dobson looked like a ligament in the knee and pulpck dislocated shoulder based on the fall and his reaction

Dobson skated off on his own which was odd that it turned out to be so bad. Who knows with either, but adding so many D men doesn't look good.

I mean that doesn't make it impossible. Maybe they have a deal worked out where he goes home to Winnipeg, maybe he just wants to play in Canada...who knows. But until there's something out there I'm just assuming he's not going anywhere.

Certainly makes it tougher and as you said the ball is in his court.
A lot of poop swirling around the league right now.

George handled himself well. I do not see them moving him. That would be a mistake.

This made me lol.

George back to Bridgeport-where Isles dman prospects go to die.

He obviously needs the minutes and a slightly slower game to develop his decision-making but Bridgeport has been awful in that regard.

Happens all the time. Forward motion can still be easy but lateral movement becomes agonizing. Been there
