I know it is easier said than done but the Isles need to move on from these often-injured players as they go up in age. I realize that every team goes through some form of injury problem. However, this is the same narrative that has been repeating itself with this roster for the last few years.
It also gives management false hope as they can argue if this guy was not hurt, and that guy was not hurt look where we would be. If I did not have ballz I would be your Aunt. Wait... That may be wrong in this day and age. I still might be your Aunt. - Nfdbulldawg
Staying healthy has been an issue for the Islanders and it happens with older teams. I think the smart move long term is to move Nelson and Palms and Lee if possible. |

So you’re saying younger players don’t get injured?????
Dobson, Romanov, Hogberg, Barzal and Holmstrom all injured this year. Nelson, Palms and Lee have played every game.
Injuries know no age. Your theory doesn’t hold water in my opinion.
Additionally, the Islanders until this year, have had low man games lost to injuries.

It's not just injuries. Older players wear down and are not as effective as you get late in the season and during the playoffs. Especially an Islander team that starts slowly and then needs to kick into gear just to make the playoffs. Pelech and Pulock have had their challenges with injuries and remaining effective. |

Keeping with the subject of injuries.
Injuries know no age. Younger players get injured as do older players. Trading Lee, Palms and Nelson isn’t going to guarantee less injuries. As far as POs the vets are the most effective in the POs. You need men to win the POs. |

I'm trading Nelson, Palms, Lee because they are older and not part of the future and they can bring a nice return that helps the team for the future. I do not see this team being able to go on a long playoff run. The Islanders have been bounced the last two years in round one with these players. |

Well I would get rid of all 3. They seem to be the brunt of every problem on this team.
Trade them and the Cup is ours!
Avg age of NHL teams is about 29 years old and the older teams typically are in the POs and fair better in the POs. Edmonton is the oldest team in the league at 30.8 avg age and Buffalo the youngest at 25.5. Florida Panthers 29 avg age and the Islanders are 29.4 avg age.
As far as trading Lee, Nelson and Palms.
If the Isles are out of the PO picture than it’s time to make moves. Although I want moves made that bring back pieces that make sense and build with the pieces that are here. Namely Barzal, Horvat, Dobson, Romy, Holmstrom etc. |

I never stated the Islanders should do a full rebuild. I also never stated Nelson, Palms, Lee are the brunt of every problem, or I hate the players. Islanders have a unique opportunity to move these players and re-tool with them being older and two of the players being UFA's. I'm more worried about Horvat in the playoffs than these 3 players. I just want a team that can do better than just struggle to make the last wild card and a team that is a legit Cup threat. |

#Isles Transaction: The New York Islanders have acquired defenseman Scott Perunovich from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a conditional 5th round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. |

He's a former Hobey Baker Award winner so it's an interesting move. It's also curious that this became the preference over Bolduc. Not a ringing endorsement for Samuel's progression |

If they don’t make the POs there will be changes 100%. But these can also be made after the season if they do make the POs.
Typically the trade deadline brings team draft picks and prospects because they don’t want to take away from their roster.
Going to be interesting how and when the trades are made and who goes and for what. |

Didn’t realize he was a Hobby Baker Award winner. Don’t know much about his game either. Gotta think Dobson and Pulock are going to be out a bit. Hopefully he meshes with the guys and plays well. |

The team does miss out on moving Nelson and Palms if they are not moved by the deadline though. I just want the team to be smart and think about the future. I do not want Lou making decisions or not making moves because he wants to save his job. |
