The 3rd round pick is Chicago’s own, so it will likely be one of the top 2 picks that round. Moving Hall early gets a jump on the race for the 1st overall pick. And, they now have the cap space to possibly help facilitate another trade before the deadline.

Disregard that last part, they’re already using their 3 retention slots.

I find it disgusting to see Chicago tank. Kane. Bread man. Debrincat. I suppose we can see in a few years if their strategy worked. I bet bedard ia thrilled to see teammates nearly given away. Not saying Hall was the stud he once was, but the salary retained on this deal alone was worth the 3rd rounder. Or even greater. Chicago used to be so packed with talent. Now any news from them is head shaking.

Hall sucks. He was a UFA not coming back. They could have traded him for a late 3rd or 4th. Instead they eat some cap space and get a very early 3rd. Not sure why people are so upset by this. This is what rebuilding teams do. They are 5-7 years away from competing.

I predict Bedard will come out in 2 or 3 years asking for a trade. His "advisors" (ahem...parents) will question whether he is realizing his true potential and feel like CHI is not putting him in a position to succeed.

This is the mentality of the new generation of so called superstars, always someone else not doing things right, always someone else not accommodating them, and twice as focused on marketing than sweating.

I could be wrong, I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

EDIT: I also blame the media for over-hyping and marketing these guys. Bedard is not anywhere near the top level status of McDavid, Crosby, McKinnon, etc. and yet they market him this way. (Did they do that with Jack Hughes? nope...and I'd rather have Hughes than Bedard.
