Do the prospects from the gutz trade have any shot next year of being regs?
If no that trade is so bad |

Ponomarov will need to clear waivers next year. I almost never hear him mentioned when there are discussions about who might be the next call up.
Koivunen is having a pretty good year and is their second best scorer. He might have a shot. But honestly I wouldn't rate him above a guy like Tomasino that they grabbed off the trash heap. And that's the top prospect we got. Bunting and the second are better IMO. |

What did you expect a team to pay for 20 games of Guentzal coming off an injury? |

This stuff almost always comes out of the Toronto media. Some attention-hungry jerk comes up with a rumor that they say they got from a source but in reality is made up so that they get more clicks. |

Off an injury that wasn't serious? A first or a top prospect would have been nice. |

I think a top 5 pick, some good prospects/young talent (from the TDL), and an aggressive offseason and we can be definitely be in a playoff spot this time next year. - 123Kid

It's true. I think we tried to go with quantity over quality due to the fact we really didn't have a lot of prospects in the system. Now we are pretty stocked.
Side note I do hope we are able to sign some good college free agents this year. That would also help us stock up the prospect pool. Especially if Dubas wants to be aggressive this summer.
Also I would take the 6th pick. It probably would still be a quality prospect. I am hoping with our drafting ability it would be a solid talent who could start in a year. |

Rumors of Buffalo trying to trade for Pettersson from Vancouver. I wonder if we can be a 3rd team in that deal? I know buffalo really doesn't want to give up Byram since he is one of their top defenseman. I wonder if a deal becomes something like
Van : Cozens, Marcus Pettersson (1/2 retained), Bunting , probably additional pick from Buffalo or players
Buffalo: Elias Pettersson, Desharnais, DOC (just for Grinder)
Pittsburgh: Hoglander (due to the previous rumors), Benson, additional prospects and picks (since it was fit the narrative of getting younger). Benson would be the most exciting of that group. We would also be acquiring additional picks while trying to "retool" this season. I assume an additional player would be on the way to us for cap reasons as well. |

JT Miller coming into the Pens lockerroom and calling everyone out for being a bunch of cowards would be the best thing for this team. Especially Sullivan. |
|

About 4 minutes to go the head coach doesn't pull Blomquist.
The MESSAGE WAS SENT.
The head coach doesn't give a good hoot about winning. He has as much interest in winning as he had in fixing the power play last season.
Is his goal - Dubas' job? |

Sorry, Nathan MacKinnon will be playing with Sid "The Kid" Crosby! Sid is not going to Colorado, but MacKinnon will be going to Pittsburgh! This will be the real BLOCK BUSTER everyone is waiting for. |

Idk JT Miller just doesn't make sense for who Dubas is rumored to be looking for. Honestly I think he is one of the best players for Vancouver (even better than Pettersson). Do I think he would change this team around almost immediately? Yes. I think he would give someone like Crosby and the veterans a jolt to think that the GM does believe in this team. Plus like you are saying. I think his competitive nature would help.
Dubas just seems like he is selling more than buying. I 100% would love Miller on this team. I think he would definitely push this team to some wins within the next few years. I am not sure what we would give up, but would love to have him here. I think the rumors are much like the Crosby trade rumors. Only click bait sadly. |

I’m predicting pick #6 - 10inchTerror
We are going to have a +5% at the #1 pick. Shaffer would go a long way to speeding up a rebuild. Misa, Hagens and Martone all look like sure things, but aren't the generational type talents you'd hope to see at the top of the draft.
Outside of the top 4 I feel like there is a material drop off. From what I've heard scouts say, everything after the top 8 players will be a crap shoot. And that the 2nd and 3rd round prospects are 3rd and 4th rounders in any other draft. |

The funny thing is that leading into Nate signing his extension, I joked that it made more sense for him to come to Pittsburgh versus Crosby going to Colorado. He could sign a contract to match Crosby's time left and then decide what to do after Sid retired.
I think generally, star players in the NHL like staying at one team for as much as possible which is different compared to other leagues.

I don't follow prospects or anything... Are any of these guys NHL ready? Doesn't seem like the Pens get any quick help out of the draft. Sounds like it's a good year to ask for picks in 26.

Such a wonky season... last season our powerplay cost us the postseason buid. Now our powerplay becomes good and goaltending and defense absolutely poop the bed. And I feel like practically a week ago we were just a point or two out of the wildcard, now we are dead last in the east. |

I feel like Miller is going to end up in Colorado. Middlestadt going the other way, probably Girard too. If Girard were to get included, we could get involved with Petts...
Col - Miller & Pettersson 1/2 ret.
Van - Middlestadt & Girard
PIT - Col 2026 1st
Could get real crazy and throw Rack in there going to the Nucks and Boeser going to the Avs. The Avs definitely have the juice to get some deals done. |

Shaffer had a shot but he's out the rest of the season with an injury. He's drawing comparisons to Makar, which I think are a stretch but hes at most 1 year away.
Misa and Hagens have a shot at making a team next year. Martone reminds me of Draisaitl, going to take a couple years for him to put it all together but when he does, watch out. I've got:
1. Shaffer
2. Martone
3. Misa
4. Hagens |

4 point game for koivunen. Good vision and playmaking. He’s a feisty player too. Love him taunting the Lehigh player in the box after they scored. If he could make it to mid-6 Brandon tanev that would be incredible. |
