The one that was a win away from the conference finals a year ago?! God it's amazing how many of the posters here have just been waiting for this team to not do well
- neem55

The team that was leading the series 3-2 but couldn't close out the series with a win in either game, that team?
It's amazing how posters in here start planning the parade route because of one successful season out of 10.

this from the guy who said Hughes was too small to be a elite dman over and over again.
- neem55

Obviously that couldn't have been me, I don't call athletes elite, especially not in the overused and incorrect form you younguns use it.

He's suggesting a fire sale, not moving 1 guy. It's there in the article, Hughes isn't staying for another rebuild.
- NorthNuck

No he’s not, he’s saying that’s a last resort. They’ll go slowly and take it one step at a time.

“Rutherford and his general manager, Patrik Allvin, are uncertain if removing one of either Pettersson or Miller will fix the problem. “We don’t know,” Rutherford said. “We’ll just have to wait to find out. We’ll have to take it a step at a time. If we try and do it too fast, that’s really when you can make some mistakes.”

I understand you are excited after the Canucks got 2 wins in a row for the first time in 2 months.
Who do you think Hughes is going to pass the cup to first?

Ok here's the plan

Petey and something of ok value

Cozens and Power

Keep miller keep Boeser
Cozens 2c

Overpay Eklblad to get him in Fa

Hughes Hronek
Power Ekblad

There you go.

- Jkuzzi

We need to dump cap if we keep boeser.

Power 8.3 and Cozens 7.1m caps eclipse EPs. After this season OEL's buyout cap hit rises by 2m for the next 2 seasons. We are better off trading Boeser and replacing with Lekker.

I also don't see us affording Ekblad this offseason without cap gymnsatics or dumping soucey, myers, and maybe one other contract.

JR and PA have done a wonderful job of tanking both miller and Poutys trade value. Absolute morons

Not sure if this has been posted, but pretty exacting piece from the Globe and Mail on a conversation with Rutherford:

What we've all sort of discussed, but hearing it straight from Ruthy with no beating around the bush makes it certain.

- NewYorkNuck

I guess Rutherford, like the fans, is an idiot because according to Brookslite, media played everyone on this story. Rutherford is gullible I guess.

Was that before or after "tough guy" asked for time off cause the coach benched him?

What other team has ever had to do something like this before? There are so many examples of cup teams where guys on the roster hated each other's guts. Ffs just get a sports psychologist in there or bonk the two guys heads together until they figure it out.

Obviously I'm fine with it if they can trade Miller for a somewhat decent return, but if this team decides to tear things down and rebuild again after the last decade of BS I might stop watching them entirely.

- NorthNuck

Calgary Flames have done a pretty good job dumping their core and still staying somewhat competitive. I can definitely say that Flames fans love the effort and pride their team has shown through a rebuild. Must be nice to be proud of the team you support. As a canuck fan… well, you know.

I don't think he asked for time off, I think he was told he was taking it.

Not according anything I've seen, that is speculation based on people liking Miller and not wanting to believe he wanted a leave of absence. Canucks have stated he asked for a Leave.

Where is the sentence stating that Miller "asked" for a leave of absence?

I don't think it's ever been officially clarified, only that he was taking a leave of absence. Doesn't stipulate if he asked for it, or the team requested it.

Farhan Lalji said he believes the Canucks asked him to take a leave, but nothing official.
